I guess I want to put this here... It's mostly to do with the last of the three movies...

When RotK comes out, does anyone think it would be neat for maybe some theaters to play all three as a special marathon? Like if we watched all three back-to-back-to-back with intermissions?

That would be great!

What I'm really looking forward to is watching thre three EE DVDs back to back though...

Of course! The full LOTR experience! And the three EEs would be even better.:)

That would be great! You go see TFOTR, TTT and ROTK one after the other and spend 9 hours in at movies :D

I have no doubt that they'll be showing them all together here. Cinemas here often have "movie marathons" during the school holidays, where they play three movies back to back. Teenagers go to these things in droves. If you're coming out of a movie, and it's almost time for a marathon to start, the place will be packed with teenagers, most of them with a pillow to curl up with during the nine hours they'll be spending sitting in a dark cinema. LOL

I know that on opening day for TTT there are gonna be marathons with FotR, TTT, and one other movie....don't remember what it is though. So I would imagine that when RotK opens there'll be a marathon with all three.

I also think it would be just awesome if they came out with a special DVD that showed one right after another. You know, there is no pause between the different movies. I think that would be just awesome, because it is still like a marathon and there will be no crowds because it'll be at your own home...

I was thinking about one of these things when I was in the queue for TTT :)

I'd like to go to one sometime, but whether or not there would be one locally is a different matter entirely. I don't think there would really be the demand for one here in the North of Scotland. Plus, these marathon showings strike me as a very American type of thing.

I couldn't cope with 9 hours non-stop. What they would need is to play one film, then a break for 10 minutes before playing the next. But so long as that is there, me and 2 or 3 friends will definately be attending, so long as Warner Village think Inverness merits one...

I would love it but I doubt it. In fact my brother once had an idea to build a cinema that ONLY showed series of movies back to back.

Star wars here, god father here, lotr there.;)

I feel the same way, Lossengondiel...that would be fun! Maybe there could be a small fadeout between the films on DVD where you could pause it (I don't have a DVD player yet, so I don't know if that kind of fadeout would even be needed).

Re: a marathon of all 3 films in theaters, I can see how it would be a great experience to be immersed in, and lots of people would like it, but it would be too long for me. If it happens, though, I would go to see the films maybe one at a time to see them on the big screen again!

oh my god. no. I don't think I could sit for nine hours straight. Not unless I wanted to really, really hate lotr, because I would never be able to watch the films without assosiating them with a really numb butt.

I would absolutely love for this to happen! I'm so obssesed with Legolas and other LOTR characters I'd sit and watch without intermissions... I mean I'm crazy enough to do that! ;) :D
