TolkienDebates.com!
TolkienDebates.com, a site for intellectual and in depth discussion of the works of J. R. R. Tolkien:
Tolkien Debates will be a site made to unite the Tolkien community, a place where people who love to debate can debate, and a haven for in depth and intense debates on J. R. R. Tolkien's works.
Hopefully, a bunch of people will like this idea, and will join and help it grow. Here is an outline of the site:
When you register you choose what site you are from. This site appears under your username.
There will be an organized system for creating the debates. The debate topics can be entered by members of the site only. The debate will be added to a lsit of debates in waiting. There may also be a separate discussion thread implemented, so that people may comment on the debate. Team can be created, founded, and disbanded by any member of TD, so that they can debate and a certain side can win.
Judging will be done by two volunteers and post points. Each post can be rated by anyone not participating in the debate. The average of all the post points for each team will be taken, and the better of the two will win the post points vote, therfore making a third judge.
As unfortunate as it is that I must bring this up, I must address it. There are members throughout the Tolkien community that have stirred up trouble. Under no circumstances will I allow Tolkien Debates to harbor insults, mud-slinging, tit-for-tat games, or other acts of immaturity. However, I will allow members that have been banned from some of the Tolkien related web sites to register and participate.
I've been working on Tolkien Debates for quite some time now, and I believe it is ready to open. I'd like people to register and submit debates (http://www.tolkiendebates.com/debates.php?action=add) (or click Debates at the top, then click New Thread...you must register and login to submit a debate).
Visit Tolkien Debates! (http://www.tolkiendebates.com)
Thank you,
Mike B
