Ah nuts.. I was so excited at the beginning of TTT when he was half in frame for about 10 seconds. He shouldn't have been Boromir anyway. Wasted talent, I reckon. Plus he doesn't really look anything at all like I thought Boromir would look at all.

Well he looks gritty but somehow contains splendour, and he acts so good he is in my opinion one of if not the best actor in the world today, he just is so good at it! When he acted as Boromir i don't think any other actor could have done an equal job!!!

He *is* a brilliant actor.. I'd never seen him in anything previously when I saw Fellowship, and he made the biggest impression on me after leaving the cinema. He was one of the best actors in it, along with others.
I'm having a little difficulty remembering the movie, as I only saw it twice a while ago now, but I remember my imprssion being he wasn't quite what I thought he should be for playing Boromir but the exact reasons escape me :p
It seems an awful shame to only use his talents for one movie :(

yeah, i also agree that he was a wonderful actor. he ended up being one of my favorites because of how brave he was in the end.

I saw TTT twice now, but can't remember where Boromir showed up for 10 seconds. Where was it? I want to look for it next time I see the movie.

If I remember correctly, Sean Bean originally tried out for the part of Aragorn, but they cast him as Boromir instead. I really liked him in Fellowship as well though, and am a bit disappointed that we only get to see him in one movie.

Boromir couldn't have been in TT!

It's right near the beginning, where Gandalf and the Balrog are on the bridge, and Frodo goes to run down towards them, and Boromir grabs him to hold him back and his face is in the shot for a few seconds. Exactly the same footage that was in FotR, so it's nothing new.

Was it exactly the same? It looked like from different angles to me, but I've only seen the first one twice so I can't really remember.
But I don't think he would have made a good Aragorn at all, looks wise.

Well, not every single shot in the scene was the same (I don't think), but I'm pretty sure the Boromir shot came directly from Fellowship.

At the risk of making this a horrible chat style thread which we could do elsewhere, to answer your original question:
I just looked it up on imdb and he isn't credited in the other two.. no more Sean for us :(
Besides, logic dictates that he isn't.

Apparently there was some kind of flashback scene filmed with Boromir, Faramir and Denethor. Rumour was it was gonna be in TTT, but of course it turns out it wasn't. So it could show up in either the EE for TTT, or at some point in RotK, or we may never see it at all. Guess we'll just have to wait and see.

And I'm sure the predictions, rumour s and even the directors intentions for The Two Towers were different this time last year, so it doesn't bare speculation really does it! Anything could happen. Hurrah! :)

I hope Phee is right. I think there is a pretty good chance he'll be in the TT EE or RotK EE, I really hope so.

Boromir might be in RotK as seen dead in the boat going down the Anduin in gondor perhaps. Just a thought.

I think that if Sean Bean did appear in RotK, it would most definitely be in a flashback of a scene we have not seen previously, but which has occured during the events of the film, so new (more correctly, unused) footage would probably be used. Then again, it may be reused footage of a scene we have seen before from FotR.

Watch GoldenEye (Brosnan's first Bond film) when you get time, as Bean plays the main villain there and does a great job there also. ;)

Funnily enough when I said what you quoted in your post, I don't think I'd seen him in anything else :p
So yesterday I went to the video store and rented Goldeneye, Ronin and The Essex Boys. He was rotten in Goldeneye, but I think that has something to do with it being a Bond film hehehe. He was a class A Bond villain though.. he should have been in it more. The script writers were probably having trouble with writing in a *sexy* villain for a change. (was it just me, or were the bond girls/villain good looks standard really high for this one?)

He showed everyone up in Ronin though, he was utterly fantastic. I can't remember when I was last wowed by an actor.. except maybe Robert DeNiro, but that's different because he always plays the same role, which I enjoy so he's excused. Range is the keyword I guess.

And so on and so on.. I'll stop blethering now  Just got a bit excited about honestly liking an actor for the first time *phew*

From what I have read, there was a scene that was filmed (as a flashback) in which Boromir, Faramir & Denethor were in but it was cut. There is a list of cut scenes that was listed at TheoneRing.net and that was one of two scenes that a Boromir flashback was cut from The two Towers. The other flashback was of Boromir's death.

I had not read the books when I had gone to see 'The Fellowship' and was in awe of Sean Beans performance of Boromir. It was just ONE of the reasons I went and bought the books.

For any Sean Bean admirerers, I would also recommend 'Lady Chatterly' based on Lawrence's spicy novel ;) and also 'Anna Karenina' - WOW, the man looks so dashing in uniform! He also had an interesting part in 'Patriot Games' with Harrison Ford & 'Don't Say a Word' w/ Micheal Douglas, and I also loved him in Ronin - which comes on TBS (here in the states) on saturday evening! How I would love to see him perform Macbeth on stage as he is doing till March of this year!

If you'd like a complete list of Sean's Films and Stage performances here is the link:

*buys plane ticket* That is so unfair. Macbeth is the only Shakespeare play that I enjoy.. we never have any decent stage plays where I am, and I love epic theatre. I'd give my right eye to see that. Well.. my figurative right eye, anyway.
Curse my mother for immigrating..
I was going to get Don't Say A Word out the other day, but figured I'd wait until next week when I get a dvd player as my friend said he has a commentry track on it, and Yorkshire accents remind me of some of my family.
And if anyones wondering, don't touch Essex Boys with a 20 foot pole.. except Sean Bean does get his kit off.. But anyone can do that I guess :D
