View Full Version : Well placed reverb - Galadriel
Does anybody else just get giddy with delight when Galadriel says to Aragorn (in the FOTR EE): "To rise above the height of all your fathers since the days of Elendil, or to fall into darkness with all that is left of your kin." They just laid this beautiful reverb onto her voice that just makes it sound so prophetic I almost shudder.
Wow...
Though the books do it all the time, the movies have not made me shudder.
Of all the EE lines to be absent in the Theatrical, very few were as important as that one in my opinion. It would be especially great for those who hadn't read the book.

Did any-one else notice that when Galadriel said "...darkness..." the back-round got dark and then lit up agian?

Funny you should mention that, PRH :). I've always noticed that and loved it, but have never really thought it was worth mentioning. Glad to see someone else notices these details ;). Personally I love Galadriel and Aragorns whole encounter. I think that one exchange alone makes both charachters 10 times the charachters they were in the TC. I also love the way Galadriel says "Namarie". Ranks up there with the way Elrond shouts, "Isildur!". It's those little pronounciation details that make Middle-earth come to life for me. By the way, does anyone know what she is saying at the end there? It sounds like something along the lines of, "Da". Any Elvish scholars around? I'm too lazy to go dig up the Glossary at the back of the Sil ;).

Wow... got me beat there. I'll have to go check that. I notice the more obvious ones, though... they are scattered throughout... ;)

Yes, another great detail. Reverb and color-grading...we're such suckers for effects!
