Does anyone who writes Quenya know if this site's word list is reliable? It looks good to me. It cites where in Tolkien's writings the words came from and everything, but I just wanted to make sure before I relied on it for a poem. Thanks very much!
The site is: Nólë Parma Lambeo Araldava

It's generally pretty good :) Helge's new wordlists (at Ardalambion) are a bit better IMO ~

I'd love to hear other Quenya writers' thoughts as well about which quenya word list is reliable, because I looked at both the Nólë Parma Lambeo Araldava and the Ardalambion ones and there is some discrepancy between them. For instance, Nólë Parma Lambeo Araldava says the word for plural "arms" is "ranqui", but in the ardalambion course it says "rancu" is the plural. Which is correct?

Also, when you guys write your poems in Quenya, do you first write in your native language, and then translate it to Quenya, or do you write it in Quenya from the beginning?
I wrote the whole thing in English first and now am trying to translate it, but i think the rhythm and sound of the poem will not be as nice in Quenya as it was in English, so perhaps it's better to start out in Quenya...any thoughts?

The two sites give the same ranqui for the plural ~ rancu is Helge's best guess at a dual plural (denoting one person's pair of arms).
Beorn: yes? speak here if you will :) I cannot e-mail and I keep PM generally off.

I found a reasonably reliable wordlist at:
The Grey Company (http://www.grey-company.org/Circle/)
Note: Not all words in the list are originally used by Tolkien, but comprised by the members of this forum.
Just click on "language" at the top of the page, this takes you to the page where you can download the list.
I suggest avoiding Grey Company.
It's for roleplaying, and even where it might accurately lift some of Tolkien's vocabulary, there doesn't seem to be any notation of which language a word is supposed to be from.
