I just got the Tengwar Quenya Font and I have been doing some research on the alphabet of it. But I noticed that what is written down when you push a key doesn't match up to the alphabet. So can someone give me the alphabet and tell me which letter is the same in Tengwar? Like say A = (the Tengwar character). Or could you give me a website?

Also, I am pretty confused with some of the characters and letters. Say the letter A for example: the place I went to tells you that it uses 3 dots above the earlier letter, but when it is first, it uses an I with 3 dots above it. But I cant seem to find that character. Can anyone who knows about this stuff please help me? Thanx in advance! :)

I am lost in all of that myself! I have a few Tengwar fonts downloaded and some English letters don't do anything and I dont know where to find some kind of guide on it all.

There is no guide that I know of, so I would recommed that you learn to write the Tengwar well first; because if you have never written the Tengwar before, and you get the font, it is practically impossible to write anything legible in it.
Just to get the vowels (NOTE: which are placed above the consonants!) you have to press the SHIFT key and a letter.. I jhave tried, and I am able to write somehting in it; but I have written the Tengwar for almost two years now, and still it takes me almost fifteen minutes just to write a short sentence.
Get a book called An Introduction to Elvish, and learn the Tengwar from there. If you want further info on the book, or on the Tengwar in general, you can always PM me. :)

I noticed that the font that you can download is in the English format. What I mean is that if you push shift+1, you will get a character that looks similar to a P. But in Quenya or Sindarin, that character would be like a T instead of an exclamation point. I have a document that explains this very well and tells what each character means in either Quenya, Sindarin, or English.

Dope!! I screwed it up - they are almost the same. What you push on the keyboard and what comes out have nothing to do with each other!! (now i have to remake a chart thing) :(

If you want to see how to use Tengwar in English, go to Page 9 of the document I gave. I will soon make an easier-to-read document just explaining the letters and all.

whereever you downloaded the font there should be a keymap file to show you what keys produce which character.
Basically the 1 row on the keyboard is series 1
The Q row is series 2, A row is series 3 and Z row is series 4.
by holding down shift you can type any key and get a tehta or punctuation.
Just go around they keyboard in a methodical manner and write down which character appears after each keystroke. The pattern is apparent and easily remembered if you have studied the Tengwar at all.
