View Full Version : The Lord of the Rings: 1 movie
When you get all three DVDs at last, do you think you will view them as one long movie on 6 [editted from 3 :o] different discs?
I think I will. I already having trouble taking FotR and TTT as two movies.
Despite the trouble and frustrations I had with FotR, I think it is better than TTT when holding them alone, but I rather see them as one, and in this light TTT isn't a lesser movie than FotR... how could it be?
For me the question wouldn't be "which movie is best?" But "which part do you enjoy more?"
Anyone disagree?
Hmm, my EE copy of LOTR:FOTR takes up 2 discs....
Wow! 6 discs, 11 hours!
I don't know, I think I'd have to fit a break in there somewhere!

I do see it as one movie, just as I see the book as one book and not three (I never refer to it as 'the trilogy' since to me it's just one book). The whole fact that PJ chose to end the movies in different places than the books do, without much trouble, shows that they are in fact one book, and therefore also one movie.

ROTK has been hinted at being longer than three hours, in theatres...now throw in a EE and we could be looking at over 12 hours of film. That's a lot of time. I think I would need more than one break. The Lord Of The Rings would be the only thing I did that day.
Which wouldn't be a bad thing.

I would deffinitely do that, Nom, but even sooner I'd go see all three in the theatre. The 'Special Editions' of them, so to speak. This franchise is the hottest one around, and there is no way New Line is going to be pulling any punches. Lets hope we get the EE's and more in theatres, sooner or later.
Oh my gosh! Can you guys imagine how amzing it would have been if we were to have watched all movies at once right away - the entire set of EEs that will eventually be available!
Imagine 10+ hours of seeing it for the first time... all the way through.
To have the initial effect of seeing PJ's Middle-earth for the first time and then several hours later to experience the Grey Haven scene... I don't know what movie experience could compare.
That has so much apeal that I almost wish I had not watched FotR and TTT... but waited for all three EEs at once... it may well have been worth the wait.
And yes Talimon... we really need to have the EEs in theatre.
GuardianRanger,
... and it is not as though most of us haven't spent all day with LotR before. ;)
PS: I think if I watched them like that, all at once for the first time.... I would not take a break unless it were forced by intermission.

I don't think the EE disk is useless. You get to see all the parts that were cut from the movie plus the extras.

I'll watch the three EE's in one sitting. Definately. IMO, it is one book and one movie.
I'll probably watch the three theatre-versions in one sitting as well. Knowing myself, I'll probably end up with both the theatre versions and the EE's.
The only thing I need to know is how close the story in RotK will be to the original.
PJ twisted TTT so badly that I can't rest until I know how RotK will be.
I Don't even know if I should want RotK or not! TTT did this.
How much can the Grey Haven scene mean if by that time I hardly think I am watching LotR.
Does anyone know if there is any new information out there about this.

Nom- check out this site (http://www.tolkienonline.com/movies/changes_rotk.cfm) It's so kinda scary to imagine how hard people must have worked to put this together...

That would be fabulous! Of course, the experience of it won't be the same as if you saw all three movies AT ONCE and for the FIRST time...still, a tasty treat.;)

I was talking about seeing them all at once for the oh god i wish i know english good enuff to talk like a wont 2 say. ;)
We both had the same thing in mind, ithrynluin.
For one's first experience of these movies to have been the watching of all 3 EE versions one directly after the other.
How do I manage a high reading level, but only a 5th grade spelling and writing ability.

I'm looking forward to seeing all three EE's in one!!!!!!!! That will be great!!!!!!!!!!! I wanted to do that the second I heard there was an EE for FOTR!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I haven't even seen the FOTR EE. I own it on DVD, but we don't have a DVD player! Isn't that sad?? We will get one soon, in fact in 12 days I get to watch it finally! I've heard it's a lot better than the theatrical version. Is it? I'll probably have to take a few 5 minute breaks, though. Imagine if PJ actually made a hobbit movie.....

The director in the TTT soundtrack said he and Howard Shore hope that someday, all 3 films will be 1. That way they can play the music as one instead of having 3 CDs.

I think it would be so awesome if after RotK comes out the theatres get all 3 extended versions, put them together and showed it as one really looooooong movie!! Not many people would go- well I guess only incredably obsessed people like me would see 12hrs of LotR!! I would go see that! Maybe only once or twice tho. LotR marathon!!! :D

I would love to watch all three films at once as one film. Wouldn't it be neat if PJ released somewhere in 2004 an edition of all three films edited together into one? That would be so much fun. It would simply be called The Lord of the Rings Trilogy, or something of that nature. :) I like that idea very much.
