Character predictions

Which new characters from the book do you think will appear in the Return of the King film?

Hmmm, knowing PJ, he might include Beregond, but none of the rest.
There is too little time for the Wild Men, Arwen will replace Elrond's sons in Minas Tirith, the Rohan captains will probably not be named, and Pippin's role will be reduced (again *sigh*) so PJ wont bother with Bergil.

I'm sure that Sauron's Mouth will make an appearance, as will the Prince of Dol Amroth

The Mouth of Sauron is definitely included, but I'm not sure about Imrahil. I think PJ can do without him. Beregond might be in, but I fear that the rest will be left out.

I think Cirdan will be in since they will definatly have them all leaving middle earth.

I would guess that Beregond would have a small speaking role.
Imrahil and Cirdan will probably appear but have small roles that may or may not involve speaking.
I wouldn't be terribly surprised if the rest didn't appear at all

Beregond: Slim chance, but maybe. This would be mostly for Pippins charachter I'd assume. He could easily be cut, but you can never be sure. Might make it onto the EE.

Bergil: Depends on whether Beregrond is in or not.

Cirdan: Fairly good chance we'll at least see him at the Havens.


Ghan-buri-Ghan: Again, very slim chance. It is more or less a given that they won't be included as they are in the book, but if they serve some other role then maybe PJ will swing it.

Imrahil: Very, very slim chance. Prince Imrahil doesn't serve any plot detail, really. Yes, for a short time the well-being of Gondor is in his control (after Denethor dies). He could certainly be there, but I doubt he'll ever be mentioned by name. For certain he won't be too major a charachter. We've heard how much of the casting went already, and were Imrahil going to play a major role we would have heard of him already.

I for one won't miss Imrahil. He is truly just a cardboard character, just a name without a personality. If PJ would want to give him a more meaningful role in RotK than, say, Hama had in TTT, he would have to invent quite a bit to make him come to life, and we all know how that would go down here...

I will get so mad if PJ cuts out Elladan and Elrohir!:mad: He already cut Glorfindel, reduced Eowyn to a helpless maiden, not counting the changes he will make in ROTK.

Eowyn has at most 3 lines in the book TTT. As such I think using the word "reduce" when reffering to what PJ did is inaccurate. He expanded her role if anything.

I'm hoping Imrahil will be in it...he was one of my fave characters in the books.

Some may dislike the lack of info on him, but that allows me to create my own background for him.

I will truly be saddened if he gets left out...Him and the axe-swinging Forlong...i think he swung an axe...

They better make Aragorn a real dominator once he gets Narsil, and they need more Gandalf than TTT.

The cast list at www.theonering.net/movie/cast.html includes a name for a person playing Ghan-Buri-Ghan, but if you click on it, it says the link can't be found. It also includes the Mouth of Sauron, but none of the other names we've been speculating about.

Maybe Elrond could start acting like a high Elf. And ... he could do something with narsil/anduil /the banner, {his daughter} and get it all to aragorn before the potd.
Yeah elrond .. I disliked him in TTT!
He would be my new hero in the ROTK :)
No ... aragorn is always #1 !
Maybe though he could finish what was started 3,000 years ago.

I would guess that they would have to be there somewhere to lead the Rohirrim around the defenses. It didn't take too long in the book; they are simply introduced (after the drums) and then the group follows, so it isn't that it's a long thread requiring a lot of setting up. I can't imagine otherwise how they will manage the "surprise" unless Mr. Jackson is going to suggest that the attackers don't bother to set up any perimeter in the belief that Rohan has been defeated, which, of course, is also a possibility.

I actually like it, and seem to understand it better.

I Wonder if he feels a little bit repentant for Eowyn;
(maybe he kind of liked her in his own warped way) and He tries to kill saruman himself ??? For sending all those troops to Helms Deep ...
