At the beginning of each class you take, your teacher will let you know what will be expected of you during that course. However, here is a list of guidelines that you can follow for any class:
- Type each post as you would a serious RP post.
- Show respect for your teacher and follow everything he/she does. If you have any questions concerning something that a teacher is doing, PM Anamatar IV.
- Keep every post in character. There will be no spamming or OOC posts tolerated.
- Be realistic with your character. Keep in mind that the things your character is learning, though you may already know them, are new to him. Do not have super characters who understand and perform everything perfectly the first time they try them. Instead, allow your character to make mistakes and stumble a little bit. It will allow for you to develop your RPing ability as well as your creative ability. You are more than welcome to have a few things that your character is very good at. But you must choose these things for yourself. The best thing is to have a well-rounded and realistic character who is shaped by you yourself.
- Develop your character over time. This guideline goes hand-in-hand with the one mentioned above. Make sure that you have your character struggle with some things, be good at some things, and be mediocre at some things; but overall, develop over time all the things your character is striving for until he has mastered them to the best of his ability.
- Try to make your posts grammatically correct and coherent. Make sure your spelling is good. If you are unsure of your spelling abilities, check your spelling in a word processor before posting.
- Have fun! Give your characters personality! You are even allowed once in a while to have your character lose their temper. Don't make your characters perfect little angels. Instead, give them faults and such that they will have to deal with. Give them personality and develop them however you would like.
- Think of Heren Istarion as a place where your character is living. There are buildings, teachers, trainers, a council of leadership, and students. You are a part of this institution. Help make it a great place by contributing with your character's personality, ideas, and progress.
