I don't know it. I know I haven't seen it, however. Is this film familiar to anyone?
GP, we need the sort of hints that even a dummy could figure out if they hadn't seen the movie!

That's actually correct. In the absence of Greypilgrim, can we declare Telelambe the winner and continue? I had quite forgotten good old Mr Farrell...

Now that I know what it is, I am not playing, but I'll give you a hint.
A. I haven't seen it.
B. It is a science fiction film.
Daranavo

Yes, it is science fiction, and Sean Young starred in it, I will throw that out for you.

I don't think that I said whether Daranavo's guess, Kindergaten cop, was correct and I'm sad to say that it wasn't. Also, there hasn't been any guesses lately so I decided to post another quote which will hopefully get things moving.
"I've been physically abused in the ear. I'm deaf!"

    WHAT!?! I don't want to seem angry but how could CATCF have been better than the original, better than Gene Wilder? My gosh, maybe I'm going crazy because Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory is my most favorite movie of all time. Though, I won't go any further, I'll just turn it over to HLGStrider's turn.
HLGStrider
12-19-2005, 11:50 PM
Willy is better than Charlie but neither of them touches the book. ..there, I made everyone mad.

Mainly because Wilders version was boring, badly acted and at times highly disturbing. While Burtons was a visual feast, heartwarming, funny, often very witty and marvelously directed.

No Way! I was just over my friend's house watching this film, The Big Lebowski.
And to Ol'gaffer I will only say that I though Depp was a million times more creepy than Wilder. Plus, the only reason CATCF was remade is because of how popular, famous, and GREAT the one with Gene Wilder was.
Ol'gaffer
12-20-2005, 12:43 PM
...or how popular the book is?
and let me tell you, outside the USA. The Wilder version is almost unheard of. While the Burton version received insant fame even by pre-production.
Corvis
12-20-2005, 03:14 PM
Maybe in Finland the Wilder version wasn't popular but I'm sure in other parts of the world it was pretty big at some point. I mean a lot of the cast aren't from the U.S. (Either from the U.K. or other parts of Europe). Especially, Roald Dahl, who wrote the book and the screenplay for the Wilder version is from the U.K.

The Outlaw Josey Wales. One of my alltime favorites.
"Dyin ain't so hard for men like you and me, it's living that's hard; when all you ever cared about has been butchered or raped. Governments don't live together, people live together. With governments you don't always get a fair word or a fair fight. Well I've come here to give you either one, or get either one from you. I came here like this so you'll know my word of death is true. And that my word of life is then true. The bear lives here, the wolf, the antelope, the Comanche. And so will we. Now, we'll only hunt what we need to live on, same as the Comanche does. And every spring when the grass turns green and the Comanche moves north, he can rest here in peace, butcher some of our cattle and jerk beef for the journey. The sign of the Comanche, that will be on our lodge. That's my word of life."

The very one--I let my brother pick the quote, and it's his favorite movie of all time. He was really depressed when he learned that the author of the book was a pathologically lier and not a particularly admirable person.

It is Lover Come Back.
Hudson/Day/Randal made at least three romantic comedies together: Pillow Talk, Send Me No Flowers, and Lover Come Back.
Very similar. My sister watches them much too often.
