I know the weddings wern't described in the book but they will obviously be portrayed on film. What do you think they will be like? Perhaps a double wedding, to save time? Whatever it is, it will be very lavish. And having frodo as the ringbearer would be a terrible joke they couldn't miss out on.

I think Eowyns date of marriage wasn't mentioned, but it was said that she was maried to faramir.

Yes at the obsequies for Theoden Eomer declared in a speech, that Faramir wants to merry Eowyn and that she agreed - so there will be a connecting band between Rohan and Gondor.
I remember an AICN article from when Harry visited the set and watched some filming from the wedding of Eowyn and Faramir.

cool, PRH. That means they're having separate weddings. I'm glad they're showing Eowyn and Faramir marrying, my favourite part is when they get together.

That'd be so funny.
but, we can at least hope for them on EE, at least! I would love to see the weddings:)

I love that Frodo as Ringbearer joke!!! Ha Ha! That's great! I always kind of thought of that...
But about the weddings... i hope the weddings are good, and that they show them a little, but I hope they do not go into too much detail, seeing as Tolkien never really described them. That's just what I hope. I'm kind of curious about a hobbit wedding.

I have a feeling that during Hobbit weddings, the ceremony is kept as short as possible, since everyone present has their minds completely on the party (and the dinner) that follows. ;)

Eowyn marries Faramir!! NO... POSSIBLE.... WAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Tolkien thought it very possible that Eowyn and Faramir marry;)
Time to read the book lighteningstrike. There are no guidelines for spoiler protection in the forum.

I guess you will have to read the books!!!
Who do you think Eowyn marries ... Aragorn?
Her relationship with Faramir (in the book) is more than Aragorn's with his beloved Arwen ... Tolkien hardly delves too far into these things until the appendixes ...
Even in the books there isn't enough to suggest Aragorn marries anyone!!!!
He is really a very forlorn figure; I love how Pj did it in the movies!!!
{ Praise God for the appendixes. }

let's not go overboard...
LOTR: The Steward and the King
Then the King welcomed his guests, and they alighted; and Elrond surrendered the sceptre, and laid the hand of his daughter in the hand of the King, and together they went up into the High City, and all the stars flowered in the sky. And Aragorn the King Elessar wedded Arwen Undómiel in the City of the Kings upon the day of Midsummer, and the tale of their long waiting and labours was come to fulfilment.
And thereafter she was refered to as Queen Arwen.
I don't fault Tolkien for leaving the greater Arwen/Aragorn story in an appendix. It would not have fit in the narrative of the rest of the book. Nowhere does the body of the book take a flashback-type approach which would be needed to tell their story (the closest it really comes is recounting events of a few hours earlier, not really the same as 60 years earlier). To include it would've required a major shift in style.
All the same, I'm very glad PJ has included their backstory in the movies, even if it takes a little minor fact-twisting or scene-inventing. Their wedding in ROTK would've meant zero without the backstory.

The weddings, let me think. I bet they will be really short as muck stuff PJ has to put into ROTK.

sorry; :(
What I meant (I was being sarcastic) was that the reader understands in the books that they marry ... but it is at the VERY end of the book ... :)
I do like how PJ has done it in the movies; except the darn 'break-up scene.'
OH and ... Narsil, and who will bring it(?), and leaving out the Rangers, Prince Imhiril (sp).
And will arwen ever be with him before the wedding???? :)
wow; we have a lot to look foreward to this year ...
:D
Gotcha.
I don't know who will deliver Narsil, but Arwen is a leading candidate. I hope not though, because having her meet Aragorn before the wedding will diminish their reunion once his labors are done. It'll probably be her anyway though...

They should do the weddings seperatly like they did it in the book .That would be the right way to do it. But i think that it would be pretty cool for a double wedding.

i have one say. arwen should NOT be the one to give Narsil.

I think it will be a short part of the film but I am sure that it will be beautiful to say the least. I once saw a picture of Arwen dressed in a gown of eleanor gold silk and she had a crown of silver interwoven into her hair. It looked very much like the one her father wears. As this out fit hasn't shown up in film one or two yet, it might show up in ROTK.

I saw that dress .. It is beautiful .... And I saw a picture of her with a crown woven thru her hair. I wish we'd see a picture of them to see how He dresses for their wedding ... And I wonder if wedding/ coronation will be combined? ...
BTW though ...
I don't know; with all the scene's spent that were left out ot TTT, it may very well be Arwen who does bring Narsil.
It would be in keeping with her running from Rivendell ... to where aragorn is. They have showed pictures of her with Galadrial. So unless they rewrite and refilm they have her in lothlorien not GH and the ship ...
IMO she will be having it reforged, with the intent to bring it to him ... father may interfere and be the one to make it right for her and deliver her message/narsil/banner to aragorn ... But I for one would love to have a scene where she shows up in aragorn's camp. After Isengard where Halbarid , her brothers and the rangers bring the banner would fit ... Then she could go to HD/Edoras before he goes to the potd. (or wherever they have the scene where he refuses eowyn going with him. )
She'd also be there close for his coronation/their wedding. I do not believe they are going to leave her out of film 3 after the mess PJ created in TTT ... with the stupid break up!

i think 4 the wedding aragon will wear what he usually does something rugged either that or kings robe and crown(i still have trouble picturing hhim that way but?)
I can see gimli crying (because the wedding is so beautiful) and merry and pippin sneaking more pints i think that it will be one of the more happiful scene's in the movie!
i see frodo being in a melecholy mood and legolas...looking HOT usual. I don't think they will show eoywn and famir's wedding but perhaps they will announce there engagement at aragon's wedding (even though technically they wed first i doubt Pj will acknowledge that)

Harry from Ain't It Cool News visited the set and saw them filming scenes of Eowyn and Faramir's wedding.

At the end of Chapter IV...
Next up I find myself watching Faramir and Eowyn being married… Eowyn’s dress is quite literally one of the most beautiful beaded gowns I have ever seen in my life. Miranda is droolalicious here. And that David bloke now gets to flub his kiss about a 1000 times if he is smart at all. I have been volunteering to be the stand in with Miranda… and work out the angles… But noone seems to be taking me seriously… I will say this though… David has been put through the ringer of emotions today.
He talks more about it, that's just the first little bit. My guess would be that we won't see the whole ceremony or anything, there'll just be a few shots of them at the altar at some point during the epilogue. That's how I'd do it, anyway. :)
Anyone know where to find these pics of Arwen you're talkin' about? Would love to see them if anyone knows where to find them. :)

"Outstanding! Madame B's report on Arwen and Aragorn's scene.
Tehanu @ 1:54 am EST
Greetings my friends it is I the regal beautiful spy Madame Butterfly
Sadly filming is drawing to a close. So this is my farewell report. I hope you have all enjoyed my stories. What a story I have to tell you this time my friends! It goes like this ¡K¡K¡K¡K
My identical twin sister Salome, arrived back from the States, especially to see the king's coronation. While Robbit The Hobbit went to the airport to pick Aalome up, The Toff and I saddled the horses. The beautiful Salome arrived and we all galloped up the firebreak at break neck speed. We thundered along the Hutt Hills Ridge Track roaring with laughter, as we had figured out a way to foil the polythene-screened Wingate film Set fence. Reining in the horses in unison, we took up our positions on the ridge above the film set. Zooming in our observation equipment we spotted The King! Yes Aragorn! Standing in front of the grand palace! He was dressed in the finest of costumes. His cloak was long and made of rich dark green velvet. He wore a shirt of chain mail with burnished amour incorporated into the costume. On his head he wore a crown. Not an overly large crown but a smaller, discreetly kingly-looking crown. Surrounding the king were his knights in the dark black, silvery-looking armor they wear. Just behind the king stood Gimli The Dwarf! Well it was his body double as he was of very small height. He had a great red bushy beard and long red hair. He wore a helm upon his head. HeHeheeeeeeeeee! To the front of Aragorn stood Gandalf The White! He was dressed in a flowing white robe. His hair and long beard were pure white. His beautiful long hair was like a mane that flowed all around him. To the right of the king stood the white tree in full blossom. The tree looked magnificent as it was covered in the most beautiful white blossoms. ļ Surrounding the white tree were the beautiful Elven women. Dressed in white and cream colored robes. They were very tall and very beautiful. Their hair was long and flowing. Most were blond but we spotted a couple of brunettes. One was Arwen Undomiel daughter of Elrond! Heheheeeeeeeeee. Arwen wore the finest robe of lime green silk. Her hair was long and dark and flowed all the way down her back. She looked very beautiful. On her head she wore a mantle of silver. Her ears were pointed, but discreetly so. They did not look odd at all. Then Aragorn moved forward, the Gimli body double fell into place behind Aragorn. Behind the Gimli body double walked Aragorns guard of honor! They then all disappeared behind a silver reflective screen. Arwen then appeared from beneath the flowering white tree. She walked forward a short distance and stopped. Her ladies in waiting followed. In her hand she held a standard with a banner unfurled. We could not see any detail on it. Then Aragorn appeared he stared at Arwen. She stared at Aragorn. Then she moved forward and walked up to him. Liv said her lines. Aragorn then took the standard from her. He held Arwens face with one hand in a tender fashion. Viggo then said his lines. Then their heads slowly moved together and they kissed! Heheheeeeeeeeeeee. It was not what I would call a passionate kiss. It was more of a lingering tender kiss. Then beautiful white petals were thrown over Arwen and Aragorn. Hundreds of beautiful white petals. The wind machines were on to create a soft breeze that swirled the white petals gently around in the air. The petals littered the ground around the film crew. I spotted a lady having fun with them throwing them up into the air.
Farewell for the final time my friends
Madame Butterfly"
Thanks for posting that Remnant. :D
