Prayer Request Thread. Is This A Possibility?
Hello, my idea is for people to put down their prayer request then just leave it there where people can look at it and pray over it. I want it to be the kind of place where people don't worry about being judged or getting preachy advice.
Most religions teach about prayer, and though I am a Christian, I would not want to restrict this thread to members of my faith. I'm sure we all have things we'd like for people to be praying over. Can we do this?
Prays from the old thread...
Please pray for:
Elgee's grandfather who is recovering from Lymphoma.
Bethelarien's family, still recovering from the loss of Beth's father.
Pippin/Frodo's Brother who has lymphoma
Elgee's emotional state.
Eomond's family.
Elgee's Aunt's Brother who was taken ill
Galdor who is just a little depressed
And Dain's shoulder.

Good idea.
I just wanted prayer because my Mom's dad is dying, he may have a massive heart attack any minute. Please pray that he doesn't die until he has accepted Jesus as his savior, and for my Mom that she would be comforted. Me too I guess.

I don't really feel right in this thread....
but I'm here anyway.....
and I don't know why.............
yea, that does make you feel sick......she was so pretty too...... but I'm not sure who I pity more......the girl or the guy who hit her, the guilt that haunts him must be unbearable to a point where his heart is about to break........yet I feel so terribly sorry for her............
but sorry, I can't pray for any of these things.......or these people.........I don't know who to pray to.......................

Hey, could you guys pray for Kellivara. She's kinda lost right now, and really doesn't know what to believe. I'm trying to help lead her to Christ, but she just doesn't know what to believe, or where to look. So pray that she will find the truth, and that God will guide me in guiding her to Him.
Thanks guys.

Een if you don't know what you're praying to, He's still there, and He knows everything... so just pray anyway, and see what happens.

I prayed to 'him' for years, nothing happened, sorry to dissappoint. I'm done praying......
and how am I supposed to pray to something I'm not even sure if I believe in!?!?
Eriol
01-31-2003, 02:46 PM
But you are probably not sure if you don't believe in Him as well... so try this, dear Kellivara: pray as if He existed. Don't get sidetracked by your doubts, let them be quiet for a while and pray. One of the things you can ask for in your prayer is for faith, if He exists. Something like "Please Lord, give me the strength of will to disregard my own doubts and fully believe in You".
He will help. "Seek and you shall find", He said... so keep on seeking.
God bless...
Kellivara
01-31-2003, 08:49 PM
when I first started to doubt that 'he' existed, I prayed to 'him' EVERY SINGLE NIGHT, and before that, for years, I prayed.....and my faith never became stronger, only continuously dwindled. When I realized my faith was falling away from me, I prayed, and then I prayed some more......yet still my faith fell!!!.....

Not knowing your exact case I'm loathed to comment. I don't know what you were praying for. Sometimes God doesn't give us what we want, but I've always been fine with that. I know that if I had gotten everything I wanted from prayers I would not be in a very good place right now. For one thing it would've involved the boy I like having a complete reversal of personality and throwing himself at my feet...
I suppose it is a matter of trust.
If you want to pm any of us I'm sure we'd listen. Just pick a name...

Elgee,
Last I heard, the girl who was in the hospital passed away. The doctors cut the life support and did numerous brain tests to see if she was still alive. Her fist name was Jessica I think, from Mexico. I have a request:
I started a prayer group on one of the forums I go to. Please pray that when we meet every Wednesday, that our prayers will do wonders. Thank you so very, very, very much!

Just to let all who pray know:
On 03-03-03, the World Prayer Center (www.worldprayercenter.org), has announced that the day should be called an International Day of Prayer. At 3:33, all faiths are advised to say a short prayer for the world, nation, and the human race. I don't know where you all are at that time, but you might want to pray!
Kellivara
03-01-2003, 01:02 AM
I don't pray, cuz I dunno who to pray to, but how much ya wanna bet I'll get goosebumps at 3:33 that day? I seem to get goosebumps with such things. Kinda like sensing great power I guess. And if everyone of every faith prays at the same time (or at least all who have heard of it or just happen to be praying at the time) just imagine how much power will be in the air. Even if it is the power of a god I'm not sure I believe in, lol.
I'll pass on the word as much as I can:)

Just asking for prayer for my little sister, Rachel, shes 7 and over the past few days hasn't been feeling very good so after awhile my parents took her to the doctor and it looks like she has a swelled up 'thing' in her neck. Update: Well as it turns out, the lumb thing in Rachel's throut(sp) seems to be a lot of excess mucus, they gave her a shot of some really powerful AntiByoutics(sp) and it like popped and later she had a lot of drainage and her fever is gone completly. We're still waiting for the returns on the X-Rays to see what they show but as far as whats wrong with Rachel, there isn't anything! I thank you all SOOO much for your prayers and most importantly I thank God for healing her! Thanks again.

A woman I knew from another internet forum (Readerville.com) was recently killed with her parents in a plane crash; Amanda Davis had just published her debut novel Wonder When You'll Miss Me and her father was flying her on her book tour. Other friends and authors are going to be continuing Amanda's book readings as scheduled, as well as encouraging others to buy her book with the hope of making it a best seller and bringing it the attention it deserves.
Please pray for Amanda's family, her siblings and friends; just at Readerville, where people only knew her through the internet, her death is really being felt. I also know nothing about her spiritual life, but I suspect she wasn't a Christian.

Pray for me. I volonteered to do a short talk at my graduation and I don't know what to talk about now. . .BLAH!

What would you like to hear at your gradaution if you were homeschooled? Or otherwise, but this is specifically a homeschool graduation.

Now I don't usually come in here, as I tend to keep most of my prayers to myself as a rule. However, tonight I am going to make an exception to that rule.
This evening I received a telephone call from my mom who told me that the mother of three boys I used to babysit, was shot and killed recently. She was single mother of three teenage boys who are now 12, 15 and 19. I was very close to the family and was their babysitter for nearly four years. I'm very distraut by this...and my prayers will be with those poor boys who are now left parentless. My heart goes out to them...and God bless them and keep them strong through this terrible tragedy.

I'll be praying for everything and everyone.
greypilgrim, the thing that I've found about God is that he doesn't work the way we want Him to. Often times, what we think is the best thing for us is in actuality not the best thing, and so God doesn't lead us down that certain path. Instead, He leads us down a different path that we aren't expecting. In the long run, whatever path God leads us down will always be better because He knows what is best for each and every one of us, and we don't.
So, all I can say is that you may not get answers because you may be looking for the answers that are the wrong answers. So, you could instead pray that God would lead you toward what He has planned for your life. This is direction. There's absolutely no way for anyone to know what God has planned . . . the best thing to do is just to commit your life to Him and trust that He will lead you where you need to go.
I'll be praying for you.
Could everyone pray for me that I would continue to grow in a knowledge of Christ and that I would begin to understand some issues in my life that seem to get in the way of my beliefs. Also, please pray that God would help me get rid of the doubt that constantly plagues me. Thanks! :)

Please pray for me. My back and neck are screaming!
Long story?
My sister was coming down stairs from doing some cleaning with a bucket of mop water and a cup of coffee. She tripped, fell a few steps, spilt water and coffee down the stairs and into the hallway below. She was fine, but as she fell she yelled out "HELP!"
I came running to help, slipped on her spill, landed flat on my back, leaned up against the stair landing, fainted, went into convulsions (according to my mom. I don't remember this), and then woke up feeling dizzy.
In the time since my back has started killing me!

Also, my sister hurt her knee on Saturday, and she is only now starting to walk on it properly again. Please can you pray for healing.
OK, one more. The Pastor of our Church has had a vision for our Church, but he isn't going to share it with us until the 13th September, as he feels that that is the right time to share it. Please could you pray that we will be able to wait until that time, as some people are getting very annoyed.

SEEMS LIKE EVERYONE IS GETTING STRESSED OUT BY THINGS GOING ON IN THEIR LIVES. REMEMBER TWO THINGS- CAST ALL YOUR CARES ON HIM BECAUSE HE CARES FOR YOU, AND SECONDLY IF YOU ARE WORRYING ABOUT SOMETHING DON'T. GOD CAN TAKE CARE OF YOUR TROUBLES A LOT BETTER THAN YOU CAN YOURSELF, SO LET HIM HAVE THEM AND TAKE CARE OF THEM FOR YOU. GOD BLESS. I WILL STILL PRAY THOUGH.

Nicely said. Also, if you are feeling stressed out, you can talk to a friend or family member. In February, I felt so stresssed I nearly had a breakdown, yet talking to my best friend and my sister really helped. If that doesn't work, you might want to try talking to someone at your church. They can be very helpful and insightful. I am praying for all of you. Have a great summer.

Well, here goes! (BranMuffin PM'd me) I have major scrapes on my right elbow and up and down my right leg because of my own clumsiness. (Well, my friend and I were bulling into each other as i walked her home, and she dodged out of the way. i was going to fast to stop and !CRASHED! into a tree and the cement. okay, now you can laugh)
I was/am stiff and sore because I biked 16 miles on Saturday and I'd biked a total of like, 4 miles up until that point. I also have two bad ankles and a bad knee that were aggravated by the biking.
To top it off, when I wrote that post I had just accidentally smashed my head into several things, including a tree, a door, a refrigerator, a desk, and my friend's head. :)
NOW you can really laugh. *cringes at the sound of laughter an the chant "Klutz! Klutz!" being taken up by her enimies (they better not include you)*
Anyway, thanx for any prayer that you have given. Also, I have been praying for a certain part in a play, and we got our parts today. :( I didn't get the part. Phooey! But God is still good! no why? I got a BETTER part! yay! God is cool.
Also, I was praying for my friend for strength for a tough time, and she is fine now.
*Whew, this is a lot of typing*
Last but not least, I will be sleeping over at my friend's house tommorrow. (She is on this site, but no name will be revealed) Her mom has been in and out of De-Tox several times, her dad is in jail, and her sister is a recovering druggie. i need prayer that I can minister to them. Jesse, what did that have to do with this thread? You have stated your beliefs in several places already, and you opened your own thread about it(its ALMOST as if you are being arrogant about it). I don't mean to sound mean, but you could have PMed that instead of posting it.
I thank you for you earlier prayer requests and will do so for you.
Also, as far as your deep thoughts comment. Its not very deep or even a thought. Its kinda just information that you want everyone to know apparently.

I tried to discuss some of this with you in a pm, but you didn't seem to want to talk about it. This really isn't the place, Jesse.
I believe that God is a Father which means he is male. I don't have an issue with anyone who says he is genderless. I suppose, considering that he doesn't usually use a physical body, they are even partly right. I'm going by mental traits, not physical bodies, and God's major trait to me is fatherhood.
I accept other people's right to have other beliefs. That doesn't make them right. If I believe that my computer desk is a big chicken it doesn't make it true. I can't prove to you that my beliefs are right, but I cannot believe what I believe and believe what you believe at the same time. The beliefs are contradictory.
As I've said before, one of us is wrong. . .maybe even both. . .The search for truth is on.

I would not like to seem excluding here but I think we should get some organization to this thread. I say this because most of us our Christians and it is against our religion to have people pray for us who are not Christians......now I know Jesse that you think all of the gods are the same but to us they are not. I cant comfortablly participate in the thread knowing that someone might pray to another god for me.:(
Once again I am not trying to exclude I am just trying to bring to some peoples attention that as far as Christians go it is against our religion to participate in the worship of one universal god.
HLGStrider

I hadn't heard that law before. Personally, my take on someone praying to a god I know isn't real on my behalf is, "Ok. . .not going to do any good." so I don't think it is going to do any harm. There is no rule that says Christians can't pray for non-Christians, and how can we stop what other people do?
Yes, most of us our Christians, and no, as Christians we should only pray to the one god and only encourage people to pray to him, however, I don't think that prevents us from putting a request out in the open. If the other god doesn't exist it won't harm us.
(I know it is against some churches rules to pray with nonbelievers, but I wasn't aware that this was strictly biblical)
There is a Christians guild and if you feel more comfortable just posting a request there, you can do that.

You have your whole life ahead of you. Maybe he was not the one God would have for you. Did he tell you he would be the one forever or did God tell you, there is quite a bit of difference. Just remember that God loves you more than you can imagine, He will never leave you, He will never forget about you. Jeremiah 29:11- "For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord, plans to make you prosper, not to harm you, plans to give you a hope and a future." This verse has brought light into darkness when I was having a tough time.

Dear friends,
I have many prayer requests to bring to the throne of God. They range from my own requests to requests of my loved ones. Here they are:
1.) Please pray my hands stop hurting. For some unknown reason, this has been happening and I plan to not be online the whole week to give my hands and fingers a break. Hopefully I will grow closer to Christ during this week. I plan to re-read all my Christian books, be outside, pray, listen to CCM, & study my Bible alot. Pray I find out why they hurt so much, please.
2.) Please pray for my grandmother She might have to have her right knee replaced. Her name is Geraldine. Her fibermyelgia (sp?) is getting the best of her. Pray it heals soon, for if it doesn't...well...I don't know what'll happen.
3.) Please pray for my great-grandma. The doctors cut-off her IV and now she's just on the verge of death. Her name is Leone. If you could pray that the LORD Jesus takes her soon to bring her out of her pain, that'd be great. She has fullfilled her life job.
4.) Please pray for SouthCross Coummunity Church. We are planning on having a meeting on Thursday evening for our candidate to take Pastor Kathy's place. His name is Casey. Please pray that if this is the man of God Christ wants for our Church, that we'll accept him with open arms. Thank you all!
THANKS FOR YOUR PRAYERS EVERYONE. YOU TRULY ARE PRAYER WARRIORS! :)

Jesse I'll be praying for you, your church, grandma, and great-grandma. But that's awsome that you're gonna read your bible more and stuff, that's soo cool.
That's my praise too. I've really been getting back into the bible and reading it more. God has really been working with my heart and changing me into the Christ-like man he wants me to be. I just loving reading the Old Testament now ( ) and reading about Elijah against the dudes of Baal on Mt. Carmel (I think) it's awsome, it showed a great test of Elijah's faith to stand up to them. OH, and just reading about all the prophets in the Old Testament, they were such interesting guys that lived in such hard times but put great trust in God to get through them. Just like we should be doing now. We can't do anything without him.
Ok, sorry, I rambled.
Could I get some prayer from y'all?
Ok, there's this one girl in my youth group who very beautiful (I will say hot), hot, smart, funny, cute, beautiful.....
*Ahem*
Sorry, anyway, she's one year older than me (my brother and all his friends age) and every guy in the group likes her or thinks she's hot. Anyway, I like her, I confess, and I think she likes me (we talk all the time and hang out all the time and hold hands a cuddle on the couch) anyway, we got accused of doing bad stuff (which we did not do) and i just need prayer to get over it, i talked to the guys and got everything cleared up. And I need prayer to talk to her about how we feel about each other, we never talk about and when we do we get all quiet. So I need prayer that me and Jacqui can talk to each other about how we feel about each other. Because God has layed it on my heart to talk to her.
*Whew* that was long,:D
thanks guys! :) :D

Éomond, are you two dating officially. If not you probably need to do so, cause it shure sounds like it to me. As far as being accused of something, it's not your fault, people aren't too bright. The best advice I have for that is to try not to put yourselves into those situations where things could be said. And remember to keep God first in your relationship with her. It is the best thing for both of you. I also noticed that in your list of traits about her you didn't mention anything about her relationship with the Lord. I think that should be the number 1 trait.
I will pray for you though, for word of wisdom and discernment. And for God to lead you both on the path He desires for your llives.
Please pray for traveling mercies for my family. We will be leaving on friday for PA. You should probably pray for all those who are going on vacation.

me too. I have a prayer request too. My dad's an elder at my church, and the church is doing pretty bad lately. People have been getting really angry at him and his fellow ministers for silly reasons, or reasons unknown. It's not like my relationship with God is gonna change because of this (i was baptized this past May), or even his relationship with God.He and my mom have been getting real stressed out lately, and i'm afraid he's gonna either breakdown and get a heartattack, or he's gonna have to quit (we just suffered a 5%pay cut) and we'll have to move. Pray that she doesn't lose it. I know how she feels. She doesn't need to share her news until she's comfortable doing so; but the child exists and is already her son/daughter whatever happens. I believe in the power of proclaimation (speaking scripture out loud as prayer). You know the way a pregnant woman unconsciously cradles her 'bump' in her hands? It reminds me of Deut.33.27 "The eternal God is your refuge, and underneath are the everlasting arms."
As your mother goes through this time, remember Isaiah 40:11 "He tends his flock like a shepherd: He gathers the lambs in His arms and carries them close to His heart; He gently leads those that have young."
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Captain, it's really hard to lose someone close to you, and God bless and keep you and your whole family at this difficult time.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Popqueen62, it sounds to me like your Dad's church need to learn to submit to the leadership of the church they have put themselves in, instead of all that ankle snapping. I expect your parents know who is behind it all, and I will pray for them for discernment in how to handle the situation and that he will reveal to them any hidden agenda behind the angry words. I pray that God will strengthen them and set a hedge around them; and that he will guard their hearts and minds against all evil.

My church is dying... we'll be bankrupt in 6 months, and there's people leaving left and right. My parents are actually thinking about hiring our senior pastor and starting a home church, which would be really good, I think... so if you all could just pray for God's leading in all this, that'd be great.
Popqueen62
07-24-2003, 06:36 AM
Talierin, I really hope that even if your church does go bankrupt, that your home church will do very well, and that maybe you'll be able to start up the church again by getting more funds.
HLGStrider, I really hope that your mom's child inside her grows into a healthy baby and that your mom eventually feels secure enough to tell people that she's pregnant (not until she's ready of course).
Captain, I'm very sorry about your loss, and i'm praying for you and your family.

LOL, Yeah i think you did, Elgee. I was on a Short Term Mission Trip there for about 3 weeks or so. It was so fun. I miss the kids that were in my class already and i just go back on the 25th.
Oh, i guess i should enlighten you as to what we were doing. We were teaching and "English Camp". We were to form close friendships with the kids and let the Light of God shine through us. It was a Blast!! On of the Chinese teachers got saved, and we planted seeds in the students' lives. Well, i need to go talk to you all later. God Bless

All these churches going through the mill! What is happening? I'll tell you what's happening. Someone in these churches is making a real difference for the Kingdom and has roused the attention of the enemy. Unhappily, this is normally facilitated through other members of the same church. "For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but agains the rulers, against the powers, against the world forces of this darkness, against the spiritual forces of wickedness in the heavenlies." This is such a wonderful thread.... I haven't really noticed it until now. Well, I definitely have someone I'd like to get some prayers for; my cousin; her name is Elaina. My aunt (her mother) commited suicide 16 months ago, and her father left before she was born. She's now living with another one of my aunts, but she's having an extremely tough time. The poor girl has been sort of swayed in with the wrong crowds before, and things have not been well. However, lately she has been getting much better, and she was just placed in a private catholic all-girls school. I hope you will pray for her that things may improve in her life and that God might guide her on a better path.
Thank you, God bless you all.

this is one of the first prayers I've requested here.....and is by far the most important of anything I've ever prayed for. I'm happy and terrified at the same time to such an extreme that I'm trembling, if that means anything to you.
My Prayer Request is this:
My Aunt just had a baby. Two months early. The baby is two pounds. The baby is a little girl, who's precious little newborn life is currently in the Intensive Care Unit, and in need of your prayers. If I never ask anything from anyone ever again, let it be this. I pray that she will grow stronger, and go on to lead a perfectly normal life, with no complications. I pray that my aunt is doing well, and that all will go well. Other than that all I can say is that this baby is very, very important. Important to my mother's entire side of the family, and to me, and especially to her parents, though it's not my place to say why. Please pray for this little girl with all your hearts, and I thank you form the bottom of mine.
God Bless You All

I wish the best for your cousin Kellivara... I can only hope that she can be lead to as close a normal life as possible, if not a normal life.
Please just keep me in your good intentions... This week is the City Championship Week for Cross Country in Toledo, Ohio. I'm the 2nd on the JV team, 9th on the team in whole (Based on this past saturday's results), and am going to need all the help I can get so I can do my best for the team. Since I'll most deffinately be scoring for the team, my place will be critical for the rest of the JV teams performance, and the Varsity's team attitude. Me and 29 others have poured our lives into this team for the past 3 months, every day (sometimes twice a day). The summit of the 90 days of endurance is this saturday, and I'd ask that you lend me your well wishes. I'll need them. We haven't worked this hard to come in third.
quite a load for a freshman huh? haha

Also, if anyone wants to know, my baby cousin is being weaned off of oxygen now (she may be off it already or she may be back on it, I don't know yet as they haven't called us yet tonight to update us.)
by the way, I'll keep posting updates on her condition unless someone tells me otherwise (not as in every five seconds there's an update but as in every time something changes, or when someone asks) so if anyone thinks updates are a bad idea, speak now or forever hold your peace^_~ thank you all very much for your continuing prayers^_^

Also, one of my good friends in Christ was hit by a drunken driver the second day she was in college. Thank God, she's still alive, but she still has some bruises and some moral support.

Please pray for me, I have a race in north Florida next sunday. It'll be hard because we're going up to Georgia 3 days before and we usually come back on sunday but I don't know how we're going to do it. :(

5K (3.1 Miles) Cross country race thru one of the finest looking golf courses in Northwest Ohio. The scenery, the slight fog, the temperature, the trees... it was all plain and simply perfect.
