Elrond was indeed half elven. His father was a man and his mother an Elf.:)

Dude thank you sooo much!
Umm yeah, but you probably shouldn't have posted a new thread for that...and also you should join a guild before you post in it....just thought I would let you know.

So was Elrond's brother Elros, but both were given a choice to which race they wished to belong.
Elrond chose to belong to the elves, while Elros chose to belong to the humans. That made Elrond immortal, while Elros remained a mortal.
I hope that helps?

The son of Eärendil and brother of Elrond, who chose to be counted amongst the kin of Men, and became the first King of Númenor and longest-lived of all Men. He lived for 500 years and ruled 410 years.

This is going to be so much fun working with you, Lady Arwen.
I'm fortunate to have you by my side in the Silvan Elves. :)
A perfect followup to my reply. ;)

Both of his parents were of both kindreds.
From Tuor the man and Idril the elf, came Earendil.
From Nimloth the elf and Dior son of Beren and Luthien, came Elwing.
Elwing and Earendil were given a choice as to which kindred they would belong, both choose the elven.

Going on from the basic discussion. Aragorn could have chosen to be immortal and forsaken his Fate and lived w/arwen but he did not instead he became king
Tear (but only one out of the right eye like all elves:D )

No, Aragorn was wholly mortal. The choice was only given to the Children of Earendil and to the Children of Elrond. The descendents of Elros were all mortal with no other choice.

Aragorn was of full numenorian decend, thus could live far longer then any normal man. He did however have the choice, to determine his own time of death. He made this choice, laid down and died moments later.
