OOC: This thread will begin in Imladris, which men call Rivendell. The time period is about 500 years after the LOTR trilogy. The Elves, not trusting Men to their own devices, have returned to Middle-earth. All races are welcome. Please include a profile in your first post. Here's mine:
Name: Bethelarien Undomiel
Race: Elf/female
Family: Daughter of Elrond and Celebrian, sister of Elrohir, Elladan, and Arwen (twin sister)
Age: unknown for sure
Weapons: Bow of the Galadhrim w/ quiver of arrows, Elven sword, two mithril daggers
Special powers: healing (taught by Elrond)
History: Bethelarien left for the Undying Lands with her mother, she could not bear to let her go alone. After the Fellowship of the Ring and the One Ring's destruction, most of her people (including Elrond) came to the Undying Lands. However, though they were in the presence of the Valar, they did not trust the fate of Arda to the hands of Men. After a few hundred years, Elrond led a multitude of his people back to Middle-earth, including his daughter.

Bethelarien sat in a beautiful garden in Imladris, casting her mind about her. She was deep in thought, wondering what now would become of her people. For 500 years, the power of the Three Rings had been lost. But it was rumored that Elven smiths were once again creating Rings of Power. Troubled by this, Bethelarien's father, Lord Elrond, had called for a council once more, to decide what would be done about this potential threat.
Suddenly, Bethelarien heard steps behind her in the garden. She turned around, and a brilliant smile lit her face.

Bethelarien smiled at Phenix. "Indeed, it has been too long, my friend." As they spoke, a man rode up, asking where the lord of the house was. Turning to face this stranger, Bethelarien said "Lord Elrond is inside, making ready for the council that is to be held. If you have been called for, then you are most welcome." At her words, several servants came to attend to him and his horse. "No doubt you would like to clean up a bit," she commented, taking in his appearance.
She then turned to the other two newcomers. "The council will begin when my Lord Elrond is ready. Until then, you are welcome to clean up, eat something, or whatever you desire--within reason, of course. The servants will show you to your rooms." And with that, she turned back to Phenix, eager to catch up on their lost years.

Dimlondowen cameout to the garden in the company of Elrond, they had been inside talking to him before the council started. She had a worried face but smiled when she saw Bethlarien, Phenix and Baralas.
She remembered Phenix and Baralas from a journey that had taken them to the Morgul vale. The sword of Eänur that they had taken from the nazgul's colection, she now used.

Bethelarien, sitting between Dimlondowen and Daerien, waited patiently for her father to arrive. She smiled as she heard soft footsteps in the corridor outside the Council Ring, knowing that her father was coming. The entire group looked up, and stood as Lord Elrond entered. He smiled graciously and motioned for them all to sit, which they did.
"You have all been called to this council for a purpose," he began. "Things are again happening which can and will put the whole of Middle-earth in grave peril." He paused, seeing some of the council members start at this revelation.
"Indeed, it is as I say. Even now, the smiths of Eregion--those who managed to escape destruction by the hand of the Great Enemy and his servant Sauron--are again endeavoring to create Rings of Power." At this, he stopped, allowing anyone who wished to speak to do so.

Name: Aren Shadowmind
Age: 25

Race: Human
Birthplace: Arcalea
Family: Entire family lives in another land and Aren hasn't seen them in years
Weapons: Short sword with a black hilt, elven dagger with silver eagle emboyed on the hilt.
Appearance: While often mistaken as sarcastic and bitter, Aren rarely opens up until the party that he travels with fully has gained his trust. Sombre and clever, Aren travels everywhere to fulfill his taste for adventure. He dresses in black travel cloaks and a chainshirt guards his chest under the black vest over it.
His cloak is held together by a belt with a silver Eagle emboyed on it. Possibly an heirloom. Aren plays while alone the flute to remind himself of home. He is slendre and thin but stronger and less graceful than it would seem.
IC: The silence was penetrated by the sound of flute. A simple yet tranquil melody played almost sounding like the sea that never changes came from the trees. It didn't stop.

"Didn't realize that there was anyone here anymore."
The voice said, a figure dressed in black jumped down from the tree onto the balcony. The dark cloacked man aprroached the party. "Elves? I heard that all elves left this land more than 500 years ago. This certainly is more than I expected." He said with a hint of sarcasm in his voice. His hand started to make it's way to under his cloack to the side where a hilt could be seen.

As soon as this stranger appeared, Bethelarien rose, looking at her father. He nodded, and she spoke.
"We have our reasons for returning. Middle-earth is in grave danger, and we cannot allow Men to face this new threat alone." She paused. "Especially since it is of the making of the Elves." Seeing his hand stray to his side, she raised her eyebrows.
"Do you honestly think that we intend you any harm? If Lord Elrond so chose, you would be dead before your sword cleared its sheath."

He said calmy and took some steps towards the elf who spoke to him.
Then hearing voices from the shadows he turned to face the direction whence they came from. "I'm Aren Shadowmind, I have been living in this abandoned city for some time now when I'm not in the wild. I never did think that I would encouter anyone here, least of all. Elves."
Aren turned back to Elrond and the elven lady next to him.
"What is this danger that you speak of? And how are elves, the people who allready left these shores long ago responsible for it now?"

NAME Charmiana
GENDER Female
AGE 777 HUMAN YEARS
RACE Elvish
APPEARENCE A tall elf with long Golden hair and violet eyes. She wears very simple green garb
WEAPONS A sword of mithril, fashioned by the dwarves. She carries two knives at her side but keeps the other knives in various places ready for use. She cannot weild a bow with any skil but can use almost any other weapon quite well.
PERSONALITY She has a sence of humor though it can be black at times. She tends to keep grudges for a while.
HISTORY She was born in Mirkwood but left with the other elves. She has returned because she felt a deep evil in Middle Earth... although she does not know what it is.
ITEMS (NON WEAPONS) She carries the necklace of Mirkwood a single Green leaf
IC Charmiana had been riding for days to where the council was being held Rivendell, she had missed that place and yet she was frightened to see what it had become... it could not be as beautiful as it once had been. She had been told of the council by a man near the road...how he knew of it she did not know.
Charmiana rode up until she was at the gates of Rivendel she went unto the council and made an entry slightly louder than she had wanted to...

02-27-2003, 10:26 PM
Lord Elrond turned to Charmiana. "Lady Greenleaf, I have heard much about you, and you are welcome here." He then turned back to the other stranger, this man who so boldy dwelt in Imladris.
"We are not accustomed to killing strangers, unless they intrude on secret councils where they have not been invited," he said sternly. At his words, Bethelarien glanced at him, surprised at the firmness in his voice. She then spoke to this stranger, this man called Aren Shadowmind.
"Not all Elves left when Lord Elrond did. Many still remained behind. They dwelt in Hollin, called by Men Eregion. Somehow they have once again discovered the ancient art of creating Rings of Power." She paused as the two newcomers started at this news. "We cannot allow this power to be misused once more. That is why Lord Elrond called this council." Bethelarien would have said more, would have told them everything, but her father rested his hand on her shoulder, and she fell silent. Then Lord Elrond said "Aren Shadowmind, we will welcome you to this council, though we know you not, nor do we know how and why you have come to dwell in the haven of the Elves. But perhaps Fate has brought you here."

02-27-2003, 10:31 PM
"Of course if it was not fate it could be a darker shadow..though i warrant there is nothing so cruel in him. Going on instinct alone I would travel with him... but these are hard times.
And how may I ask do you know of me Elrond?"
Charmiana said this all quite forcefully and maade her presence clear while never leaving her seat.

Baranlas rose to his feet
"ive had rather enough of these interuptions, i was under the impression i was here to represent Gondor in the matter of the reforging of the one ring, but find myself knowing little of this situation and in the middle of a family reunion ,this all seems very disorganised"

Bethelarien
02-28-2003, 12:03 AM
Addressing Charmiana, Elrond said "I have heard your name spoken by many traveling people, both Men and Elves." Saying this, he smiled at her.
While Elrond was speaking with Charmiana, Bethelarien turned to Baranlas. "Sit down, Master Baranlas. There is no need to get upset. It is to be expected that we are somewhat disorganized, as we did not know who all would be here, and especially now that we find an unknown man living in our city. Be patient, and you will have your answers." She paused for a moment. "And we said nothing about the re-forging of the One Ring. I only said that the smiths of Eregion were once again dabbling in dangerous things, such as Rings of Power."
Baranlas
02-28-2003, 12:16 AM
"hmm and where did the rings of power get there power?
it is only right to assume that this is why we are here, but i cannot guess what the point of the council is, surely now you elves will not fall for such a ploy as these rings of power are common knowledge we all know what they do, and i doubt anyone would jus offer themselves to be ensnared or be tricked into the power of someoneelses will, like last time and if there was not a one ring there would be no danger in these new rings of power"
Bethelarien
02-28-2003, 01:43 AM
Bethelarien drew in a deep breath, trying to stay calm. This man was very frustrating. Seeing his daughter's struggle, Lord Elrond once again put his hand on her shoulder, signaling her not to speak.
"Master Baranlas, I believe I have some explaining to do," said Elrond. "My story begins Ages ago.
You see, when the Rings of Power were first made, they were pure and good. It was the One Ring that corrupted them, and made them dangerous and ensnaring. While the One slept, the Elves could wield the Three in peace, preserving the memory of what life was once like for our people. And then the One awoke, and was destroyed by Frodo Baggins, a Halfling. The Three were rendered useless, and since the knowledge of how to make them had been lost, the Wise paid little attention to the small region of Hollin.
But we have been deceived." He paused, taking in the reaction of the group. He drew another breath, and continued.
The smiths of Hollin, known to Men as Eregion, began once again to experiment with such dangerous things. Not even I know exactly how they create such things, for it is a secret jealously guarded. Only the smiths themselves know how. The rings that we know of for sure are not powerful enough to be potentially dangerous, but we suspect that they are keeping things from us, which suggests that their hearts have been corrupted.
And something else has happened, something none of us expected, or ever thought would happen. It puts all of Middle-earth in grave danger."

"The master ring..." Aren said beneath his breath.
"The same ring that I've heard so much about, the ring that nearly wiped out the race of man? And you're saying that you left the instructions to create one lying around when you left?" He said this calmly but with biting sarcasm in his voice, his eyes turned to Elrond. "I will accept your offer to hear this councel out, but you should dare not have anger with me for staying here. Elves haven't been seen for hundreds of years, this place was no longer yours." He said this as he found a spot in the corner and sat down, away from anyone else.
"I will help, for if this task truly is as you say I would find it to concern myself also." He said from the corner and began to play his flute again.

Hearing Aren's words to her father, Bethelarien became agitated. "We did not leave instructions lying around, Aren Shadowmind. Have you not listened to anything Lord Elrond has said? This One Ring was created by the smiths of Hollin, or Eregion as you men call it. One or more of them survived Sauron's betrayal. The smiths that knew how to make them then are the only ones who know how now. There is no recipe, no set of instructions written." Bethelarien drew in a deep breath.

Lord Elrond had had enough. He quickly brought the group back on topic. "Your first focus is the Ring. Without the Ring, this new lord in Mordor will not have nearly as much power. Therefore, you must visit the smiths in Hollin. Conceal your identities, all of you, especially Bethelarien. Do not, under any circumstances, reveal your true purpose there. At Phenix's suggestion, Bethelarien glanced at her father. Though it was not exactly as he had intended, it would suffice, and he nodded. She went to him, and they conversed quickly and softly in the Elvish tongue. Finally she turned again to group.
"Very well. It shall be as Phenix has said. We will go to Hollin and bring the smiths here, to Imladris, for my father to deal with." She paused. "Though this is a very dangerous endeavor--especially if there is an army gathering, as has been mentioned--we will not take lives unless it is absolutely necessary. Is that perfectly clear?" She raised her eyebrows and looked at each member of the new fellowship, though her gaze lingered longest on Aren Shadowmind and Baranlas.

When Dimlondowen arrived at her room, she found her hawk Snow-Jer on the window. The hawk was carring a box that had inside a ring, a ruby in the center and a note. She read the note and put the ring on, she slept well that night. She awoke early to pack her things, when the other arrived outside she had her horse sattled and packed. Snow-Jer on her shoulder.

All that night, Bethelarien was restless. She couldn't sleep, and decided to walk instead. As she walked under the light of the stars, she noticed the man Aren wandering the city as well. Instead of speaking to him, Bethelarien turned and walked back into the house. She went to her father's study, knowing that he would still be awake, and they spent all night poring over maps, as well as old records, trying to find which of the smiths of Eregion had survived. As dawn drew ever nearer, Bethelarien took leave of her father to ready her things. Quickly she ate, preparing herself mentally for the quest as well.
When the sun broke over the horizon, Bethelarien was at the gate of Imladris with Asfanora, waiting for the other members of this new fellowship.

"I know that you do not wish to leave from here my friend, but if we wish this place to still exist in years to come, we must leave." Tears formed in her beautiful blue-green eyes as she looked on them for possibly the last time. Momentarily forsaking her companions, she ran to her father and hugged him. He held her for a long time, hoping it would not be the last time his only daughter left would be in his arms.
Finally, though, she knew it was time to go. Releasing her father, she kissed his cheeks, and he her forehead. She mounted Asfanora and rode to the front of the group, then turned on her horse and called to the group. "Let's move out!" And with that, they were off.

Aren again placed his hand on the hilt of his sword, He got off his horse and whispered something to it. He pulled out his sword and readyed himself for battle. A rattle from the bushes, more. Two orcs approached the clearing that the party occupied, they spotted the group and with snarls with their wretched tongues charged towards them, at that single moment Aren whistled a high sound and dashed towards the first orc. His blade pierced air as in a clean swing he cut the orc into the stomach causing blood to spill to the ground, he teared his sword from the orcs gut and swinged it to his neck and pierced it in a single move. The other orc charged in fury towards him with a blodthirsty roar, in a single moment Arens horse smashed into the orcs side causing it's rib to crack, the orc slumped to the ground. The horse began to trample it under it's massive carcass and with sickening sounds the flesh and bone of the orc was battered to the haard ground. Aren wiped the blood from his blade and flunged himself onto his horse. Then, it felt as if the forest had come alive, sounds came from everywhere, they were growls and snarls that had not been heard in these forests for hundreds of years, "there are more!" Aren said with the calmest voice that no one expected to hear. "Stay close to Elrond's sons, make for their camp, I'll follow you!" He said to the party without turning. He readied his crossbow to his hip and aimed into the sounds, he took a careful shot and the arrow vanished into the trees, a high pietched squeal came from darkness and then silenced completely. The sound began to approach, "GO!" Aren yelled. The party began to make haste from the clearing.

Aren yelled to her, his eyes darted to every member of the party but they weren't in anger, a fear that no one had seen in him before could be seen in his green eyes. He whistled to his horse and it came to him. He got on and spoke again, now calmly "you all know that sacrifices have to be made in order to save something greater, otherwise nothing can be gained. And I ask you now, if this should happen again... Do not turn back, no matter what you should hear." He glanced at everyone, including Bethelarien who had his back turned to him. Bethelarien, after hearing Aren's explosion, turned her back on the group. She heard him ride away on his horse, pause, and then continue. Thinking of his words--and the strange fear she had seen and felt emanating from him--Bethelarien began to weep, though silently. Tears streamed down her face, both from sorrow, and from frustration. Quietly she sat down on the forest floor, her shoulders hunched, her hair fallen in front of her face to hide her tears.

Dimlondowen had been shooting arrows from a tree. She watched everything happen, she went after Aren. She found him standing by the lake, at first he didn't see her she started to talk "What is it that makes you think you are greater than the rest? Why do you act as if you are the only one with power? Is it because you are the only that is not an Elf? We are not that diferent, why did you want to kill the orcs by yourself. There were too many for one person. I care not if I die, only to be reborn again. That does not happen to you. And what does it matter, if the rings are once again formed we shall all be doomed anyways."
"We should make our way for camp, light is fading and the forest is full of danger in the dark." Said Elhorir. Bethlarien agreed, they started to make their way once again the the sons of Elrond's camp.

Charmiana sighed men could be very arrogant...especially this one.... She saught out Aren.
" One could not have fought those orks alone and survived... as a group they were not a difficult task. " she picked up a pile of twigs and handed him one...break this.
"Why it is a simple matter."
"Yes it is" and she handed him many twigs...break these"
He tried and could not
" See as a group we are strong alone we will fail. Those orks were not roaming around for no reason...they were looking for us I think. They would not have stopped when you had died...they would continued and then if we had all done as you had they would have eventually fallen...you are not a forest unto yourself." and with that she left.

As Dimlodwen began to walk away Aren began to speak. "I couldn't save her." He said in a shivering voice, he turned and Dimlodwen noticed that a single tear was going down his cheek. "I once let a person close to me, it was the third year that I lived in Imladris. We fell in love and I vowed to protect her, but I couldn't. She died into my arms bleeding and there was nothing I could do to stop it. I swore never to let anyone get hurt near me again, I can't let anyone close for I do not wish for such pain of loss again." He said grievingly, he took a step closer to her "why do I act superior and cold? So that none should learn to like me and thus me them, I do not wish for anyone but me to die for another loss would be too much." He spoke to her with another tear falling down from his eyes, the others came and he followed. Leaving Dimlodwen there alone.

Bethelarien, who had arrived at the pond as Aren began to speak, overheard his words to Dimlondowen. Suddenly things became clear, and she felt a deep sorrow for this man, this one who had lost a loved one. Hoping to comfort him somewhat, she walked beside him, though she was silent for a while. Finally, she spoke.
"I, too, have lost a loved one, Aren. My sister Arwen was very dear to me, and I to her. Though we were twins, she chose the Doom of Men, and followed her love Aragorn through life--and death." She paused. "I know it hurts. Yet you cannot cease to live because one you loved has done so. Many that live deserve death, yet many that die deserve life. Can you give that to them, Aren? You have a short enough time here. Do not waste it grieving over what has been lost. Live, and love, that you may not regret your time here." Saying these things, she fell silent again, though she continued to walk beside him.

Aren stayed silent after Bethelarien had fallen silent again. He followed the others to camp but stayed silent, he did not speak, he did not eat. The others talked and ate and offered him food but he took none. Morning came and Bethelarien woke, Aren stood next to her, he had dressed his cloak again and was kneeling beside her, "I know." He said, he smiled to her and walked to his horse and released it for a walk he placed wood in the fire and it began burning brightly, the morning was cold, but Aren smiled for the first time in a long while. For after hearing her words, he had began to understand. No matter how deep the darkness, light shines within.

Seeing Aren smile made Bethelarien's heart soar. Helping others find happiness brought her true joy. As the group prepared to break camp that morning, she could not help smiling broadly. Sadly, she bid her brothers goodbye, for her brothers and their company could not continue with them. She called Asfanora to her, and the company rode away from the camp into the sunrise. The light in the sky matched the light now growing in her heart as she rode next to Aren.

From now on we work together, or there will not be a way to win this endless battle. " She told Aren, thought her words spoke of sadness she had a smile on her face.
It was time to continue, no more time could be lost. Dimlondowen hugged Elladan and said good-bye to Elrohir. Thoguht she smilled she could not help but feel sad, in to the unknown they went. She mounted Enedfalath, her horse. Her obedient hawk messenge, Snow-Jer landed on her shoulder.

The ocean is the most beautiful thing in the world, but if you take it too lightly it can be the most terrifying monster that you'll ever see. Can you hear the cries of the hundreds of sailors that have drowned? The sea sings their song everyday to remind us of what it is." He said quietly. "Why do you say this?" Bethalarien asked, Aren turned back to the direction of the ocean "I mean nothing.." He turned to the party, "if we travel south-west for a day or so, more open plains should open to us and we could hunt for food. He also looked up to see the open sky, stars spun around him and he began playing his flute. A sombre and sad melody that sounded like the morning wind but also as if hundreds of birds had joined to the single note, "my father taught me this, just before I left. He said: If you should ever miss home, play this and you'll be right here with us." Aren came down from the tree, "but that will never happen, I will not see them again." "Why?" Bethalarien asked, "They're dead, the day before departure they were killed, I was weak and I ran and never returned. That was 12 years ago. I was-...We should get some sleep, we have another long ride ahead of us tommorrow, eat if you must but ration it. I can survive without any, give my rations to the others." Aren had found a place in the forest, it was calm without a single sound coming from anywhere, a branch covered his spot from the rain, and a small pond was there for water, Aren gathered his things to the corner and decided to wash himself before sleeping. He looked around quickly and saw no one, he looked at his reflection in the pond, he pulled his hood and hair back to reveal that his ears were slightly pointy and curved, his facial expression was less bulky but still a trace of a beard grew on his chin. "what are you?" he asked his reflection with a bitter voice, he touched the water with his hand and the image dissappeared. He dove into the pond.

"It took the army of Rohan and Gondor to win before, how is a company of elves to stop the decendents of Morgoth? "
" There is still hope, what makes you think the rings have already been forged? "
" I know not, Snow-Jer, but everytime I look towards Hollin only evil comes to mind."

Aren was angry. What was her problem. He began to look away in anger but knew that it wouldn't resolve anything.
He pulled back his hair a little, his ear curved slightly towards the end making it slightly pointed. "I'm a freak. My father ravaged my elf mother when she was young, I was the result, when I turned 20 in human years and my body was only what humans perceived of 13 or less, my father began to call my mother a witch for cursing me. He thought for a moment that he should run after her and get his book back, but something held him. He placed his things onto the ground and decided to rest, soon he knew of nothing more and fell into deep sleep.

Carefully, she silently climbed down the tree. She went back to the pond, and searched for the signs of Aren's passing. Slowly she followed his tracks, which was difficult because he left very few prints. Finally, though, she saw him. She crept up beside him, placed the book next to him, and then laid down beside him. Though two alone were still in danger, in her mind, it was much better than one.

If we ride hard, we should reach Ost-in-Edhil by nightfall." Saying this, she turned and began to walk away. "You should hurry," she called over her shoulder, and then disappeared into the forest.

"Yes, Dimlondowen. We will set out on the last leg of our journey when Aren returns. We needed the rest after our ride, as did our animals. Even Elven horses can't run forever," Bethelarien added. She gathered her things and stowed them in her pack, and readied Asfanora for their journey. Then she sat and waited for Aren to arrive.

Dimlondowen packed her things and mounted her horse, Enedfalath. Soon Snow-Jer came by and landed on a high branch of a tree next to them. As Dimlondowen waited for the other to pack she checked her supplies, they wouldn't last much longer.

Aren had found his horse and gathered his things as he came to the edge of the forest where the rest waited for him. "Are we ready to leave?" he asked. The party seemed to have been waiting for him, embarressed he got on his horse and began riding south, continuing their journey.

As Aren began to ride off, Bethelarien smiled wryly, though she kept her thoughts to herself. Quickly she and the rest of the group mounted, and sped off after Aren. They rode hard, and almost immediately passed by him, until he nudged his horse into a gallop as well.
They journeyed throughout the day, stopping only once to rest briefly, and to take some food. Then they continued their former pace, rushing toward Ost-in-Edhil.
As they drew near the city, Bethelarien was troubled. She thought she saw a hazy cloud in the distance, but wasn't sure enough to mention it to the others. Cautiously she smelled the air...smoke??

Dimlondowen had also seen the black cloud and could smell aa slight smoke smell. She rode over to Bethlarien and said "I am sure that troubles lies ahead of us, the soner we arrive the beter. And it must be before night fall, for it is dangerous to lie in this darkness."

"What saddens me is that the evil creatures might will not be of the dark lords, but of of your kin, elves. The forgers of the ring would not want us to stop them from their goal, so they would send out someone to stop us, elves. To think that we might have to turn agaist our own kin to stop this evil from getting stronger frightens me. What will happen to those that do kill part of their own kin, for the lords of the creation of the world will for sure not like it..." Dimlondowen said half to her self.

Aren rode fast to their side, smoke began to fill the air that they breathed, he pulled out his spyglass and looked into the horizon.
Smoke covered nearly everything so he could not see wether it was natural fire or nor. He began to lower his spyglass when something caught his attention, he quickly focused and gazed hard to where the smoke came from, "no!" he gasped. He urged his horse to make haste and was off like the wind, "hurry!" he called back to the others.

Scrutinizing the horizon with her sharp eyes as she ran, Bethelarien was also aghast. "We must ride harder!" she called to the others. "Ost-in-Edhil is on fire!" So saying, she pulled even with Aren, and they all raced toward the city.

The fire rose high and it's tips licked the side of the wooden buildings that made Ost-En Edhill, the heat was unbearable and no living thing could survive it, chaos was everywhere and panic struck people were running out of the town, orcs ran from different directions. Some carried torches while some were attacking the peole, a man was pushed down and an orc severed his head with it's axe. Arens eyes grew wild and he charged with his horse, he grew near the group of orcs and jumped off. He threw a dagger that pierced the lung of one, his sword cut the others foot, he began to fight furiously with the rage that no one had seen.
The others began to fight also, their arrows hit their targets and they helped the escaping people, but the fire grew and more orcs were appearing.

Bethelarien leapt into the fray, arrows flying, each taking out an Orc with precision. She kept riding forward, Asfanora taking her toward a stone building near the center of the Fortress of the Elves. When she reached it, she ducked inside. It seemed to be empty, deserted. But when she looked closer at her surroundings, she realized that she was in a smithy/blacksmith shop. And the embers of the fire were still glowing red as intense heat poured from the forge.

Rage filled Dimlondowen as she rode in to battle. What had these people to do with the war of the rings or even the dark lords?
Dimlondowen used her arrow, and did not miss one orc. She then notied a pesent girl with she had seen before. Beth, she had become a friend of Dimlondowen the last time she was here. But before she could get to her an orc passed by and got her. That incresed Dimlondowen's anger , she had run iut of arrows so she now used her sword and it revealed it true power. The sword started to glow white, for it was no ordinay sword, it had belonged to Eänur, last king of Gondor before Aragorn. It became unblakeable, and cut metal suits as if they were of paper. The orcs, too, seemed afraid of it.

Orcs charged from left and right, Aren swung his sword and three lost their heads. His dagger flew through the air and pierced the lung of one. From the midst of battle he looked to see for any survivors, a young girl, possibly not even ten summers old was running from the town, orcs followed her yelling in their fowl tongue. Aren charged towards one and cut it into its knees, the orc fell with a horrid scream. He shot the other with his crossbow into it's head. "come! hurry!" He called to the girl, he took her by the hand and led her to safety, "stay here and don't move, I'll come back soon" he calmed her.
He then ran yelling back to battle. Soon, the field lay full with orcs, the party looked for any survivors, but they were scarce.

Bethelarien, standing next to the forge, paused a moment for thought. The Orcs had not yet realized she was there, so she had barely a moment. The smithy seemed quite deserted, as though its inhabitants had left in a hurry....
Bethelarien jumped back on Asfanora and rode out into the battle. She caught sight of the smiths, and was surprised that they were still alive. As she watched, two of them were felled. She looked around for her companions, but could see no one. Knowing that this battle could be her last, she rode toward the smiths, hoping to do something to save the rest of them. As she rode, she scattered Orcs in every direction, not caring where they stood.
Reaching the group of smiths, she jumped off Asfanora. "Find Aren!" she called to her horse, and turned to defend the Elves. Orcs quickly surrounded them, but she refused to surrender to them. She would rather fight to the death.
