Does anyone else think that a warrior as mighty as Aragorn doesn''t get to prove it in a 1v1 in the books? Even though he's meant to be a subversion of the classic "Beowulf" character type, said duel doesn't have to be one of those kinds where it's the be-all and end-all of the story. It could carry the same weight as Gandalf's duel with Durin's Bane where it's an epic and memorable part of the tale but it's not like it's the whole centre of the series - that kind of duel. If you agree then who do you think said duel would be with? An Olog-hai captain during Pelennor Fields or the Hornberg? Maybe Tolkien should have written in a King of the Dead for Aragorn to duel as a way of presenting an antithesis to Aragorn's kingship, or if he would've met the Mouth of Sauron at the Morannon to show that as Aragorn is a chamption of Gandalf, so is this guy a champion of Sauron. Thoughts? Anyone else Aragorn should fought in the books instead of this lot? Should he have a duel at all as part of me says no to this idea.
