    What a wonderful place you have here!

    I apologize for yet another “help me with Sindarin please” post, but...um…

    Help me with Sindarin please?
    :)

    I’d like to have a sword inscription double-checked before approving the art. I’ve stuck fairly closely to known language snippets and of course the WETA inscriptions - the latter, figuring if they weren’t exactly canon, they were still as sturdy ground to walk on on as there might be.

    “Star-glint is my name, I am hope’s guard”

    Have I made any dummy grammatical mistakes? I am *not* up to speed on all the mutations yet.

    I’d also love to be sanity-checked on choosing -
    * Sindain rather than Quenya
    * Tengwar rather than Cirth
    * “Modern” mode rather than Beleriand

    As for an “in universe” history to help answer those questions -

    I’m thinking it’s a sword in use by Dunedain at the end of the Third Age. It is a family sword of some lineage, owned by a family that as late as the latter days of Arthedain had some minor nobility. The sword itself though is no older than the time of the Dunedain Chieftains, forged in a time when only hope remained.

    Perhaps some elvish magic has preserved it through the years, perhaps it’s been reforged “Ship of Theseus” style over the generations, perhaps it’s only a few generations old.

    The sample inscription is a rough draft, but before I spend much time on the artwork I'd like to make certain I have the text right.

    Thank you!

    I can't help you with the translation, but I wanted to say I like the idea of what you want to inscribe! Also, I laughed at your "Ship of Theseus" analogy. Good luck!
