I think this thread will help us better serve you. . . I'm not asking you to tell us who you voted for, but I would like you to tell us why you voted for the people you voted for:
    For instance:
I voted for userA because userA has always been a logical person and I thought he would be able to reason out arguements.
I voted for userB because I know she is very kind.
I voted for userC because he has shown himselves capable of blah blah blah blah blah. . .
I voted for Elgee because she has a cute cat. . .

    Etc. . .

Why did you vote for us or for whoever you voted for? What qualities are you interested in in a C9'er?

I don't remember half of the people I voted for .

I remember voting for Elgee, Mrs. M., Nenya... but I don't remember my other votes, and whether they got to the C9 or not.

But my votes were focused on whether the person could remain cool under stress and also whether it had the respect of other members.

I voted for different people for different reasons.

Either because I thought they would truly care about member concerns and would be honest and do their best, or because I think they will not hesitate to speak their mind, and that they care.

I did NOT vote for people who always try to get into politics or over organization, or like leadership just for the power or prestige. Unfortunately many people (being as how poeple are sheep) automaticly respect, and/or admire a person because of their position of authority without really looking at that person's qualities. Some poeple know this, and I suspect it is why they seek to be in positions of power. If I thought anyone was like this, they did not get my vote. Not that all who seek to be leaders are power-hungry, but power-hungry people earn my distrust.

I voted for people I felt were mature, knowledgeable, and in most cases, unpopular (as in not the subject of constant conversation). I feel that the third part was very important, because a popular person feels the need to remain popular, and won't make the tough decisions that need made. In addition, I feel that certain people *cough* have personality-cults, raising themselves above other members and pushing themselves into the public eye. Disgusting, to say the least, and highly annoying.

I voted for Dr. Ransom, Thorin, and Mrs. Maggot for sure, though I can't quite remember the others. I know who I did *not* vote for, but I won't mention them, though I do think that it is part of the reason that the C9 is not as productive as it was made out to be.

I did not vote for a few of the current C9ers myself, but I think they are doing a fine job nonetheless. The reason why the C9 is not very productive is wholly due to the fact that there isn't much to do (if anything), that would require their 'meddling'.

No Cir- I'm curious. Which of us are responsible? Instead of unproductively insulting us, why don't we lay all of cards out on the table, and then maybe we can figure out how to better accomplish what you see as C9's purpose. After we've settled that, maybe then some of the members of TTF can discuss which mods we think are are the reasons why TTF isn't accomplishing everything it could.

This subject is so touchy and I can not even imagine how it can be discussed without insulting some people, or even looking like an attempted personal attack. I speak from experience on this. If for example one suggests that they think a mod should be removed, they may be accussed of doing so because they 'always had something against that person' or some such... anyhow, the person's motives will be doubted by someone and trouble will come of it. How could it not be viewed as an intended attack?

I think the only way to find out what members really think of the moderators would be through a poll... otherwise it'll just cause 'trouble' and the person who posts about it will be a 'trouble-maker'. Something like was used for the C9 elections.... where we cannot see the results.

Of course, ideally Ancalagon would be a mod again... but I suppose that is up to him and Webmaster :D

Well, it was Ciryaher who decided to insult an entire institution, and perhaps as many as eight of its members personally. I simply suggested that if that's the course we want to take, we shouldn't leave the task half-finished.

My remarks were largely facetious, intended to show how divisive and inappropriate Ciryaher's remarks were.

You did not vote for about 99.9999 percent of the forum. . .unless you were using your evil mod powers to vote for a couple hundred people.;)

lol, exactly, Elgee. I wish there was a record of who voted for who, but there isn't, so I don't know who exactly I voted for.

Cards? Well I did not vote for Yay, who was whom I was directing my statement towards. The personality cult thing is intended for Elgee and Nenya (nothing bad, but it's something I have definitely noticed).

If you wish to discuss moderators and their shortcomings, there's nothing you could tell me that I hadn't heard before, or in worse terms. I moderate, and therefore I perform my tasks as "moderator" but of course, if there's anything you think I should do, feel free to PM me about it. I have for some time been open to suggestion and discussion, though the only person who took advantage of that is DGoejj (sp?).

    Don't take things so personal.

I had a feeling it was towards me. . .

    Cir, I AM a personality cult. ;)

For goodness sakes, if I weren't popular I'd post enough to make people think I was. I post enough about myself to make everyone thing people were posting about me. . .

    It's called a saturation campaign. ;)

I didn't vote for some of the members because I simply felt I didn't know them well enough. . .or simply because I felt others would be better.

    I noticed :p

I wouldn't be surprised if you had thousands of cats in perfect columns all wearing little armbands with "LG" on each one, and then they all stand on their back paws and hold up a front paw and chant "Elgee! Elgee!"

    ;)

Oh. Got it. A comment was directed at me. Let me see here. I am happy to not have any evil and sickening personality type cults for myself. Too evil. Oh, no offense, of course!

Anyways, huh. Sure, it makes sense to me that the other people who happened to be options to vote for might seem more mature or knowledgeable or unpopular than me. I'm not offended even though noone asked. Since it was written that this part was directed at me, I'm guessing that you voted for everyone else we have on this council of nine thing without a personality type cult. Including this FoolOfATook person who likes to rant. Nice.

I agree that mature and knowledgeable and, in most cases, unpopular - Wait. I'm popular? Sickening. Oh, this person writes that popular = the subject of constant conversation. *beams* - are good types to have doing this crazy job. I like to think of myself as mature and knowledgeable and unpopular (not in the way you were talking about it, though), too, though. oh well. Maybe the others were just more obviously those things. I love to hide my deep side. Some of you other people do too well a job.

Devotion and reliability and objectivity type things are worthless. Yay for new information!
