The insight, or realization of what is actually happening when the Sun and Moon fail to rise when they are expected to is the tricky part. Obviously Eru knows what’s going on (it’s his design)…but does Manwe know; or any of the other Valar; such as Mandos, who understands that "afterlife" thing quite well? Also, since JRRT’s prophecy involves Turin; where has he been and/or where does he come from; and do we explain a little of that realm; say along with some details of Turin preparing to return to Ea? I have some ideas on this, but should we even go in that direction is the question.

I've been to a few plenty of times. Good fun. Good food. It is unfortunate that my roommate doesn't come equipped with some form of video capturing device, since myself in one of those skits that viewers get pulled into would be entertaining for you people to see. And I have such a wonderful speaking voice. Good actor's pitch, too. *insert rolling eyed dude* We shall see. Meanwhile ---> Dagor Dagorath Delineations. Still thinking.

It’s a good time. Very kicked back....kind of a Medieval/Tolkien geek/Grateful Dead hippie combo....if you can imagine that. Yeah, true craftsman and artists there, and stuff definitely ain’t cheap; though some of the workmanship is just awesome. It’s not just shops either, that’s kind of a side thing. The bizarre faux-museums, events, and shows are quite good. The “bird of prey” show is one of my favs. The first time I went…the “trainer” (or whatever) called out the first bird and it happened to be a gigantor eagle that just happened to fly about six inches directly over my head. It was good.

Eh. I travel via bus quite regularly. It's not bad. Good time for book reading. My roommate just notified me of some other Renaissance Festival type thing to be held someplace closer to myself. I might allow him to drag me to it. But still. Stuff's expensive. Who knows? I gots some demon horns and a shoulder dragon. Mayhaps more pictures for silly Tolkien people. *insert rolling eyed dude*

      I have. Sounds like fun.

PS - I would go to the Renfair anyway (unless you have to travel by bus alone....not a good idea).

Okay. sorry. But I see that you have already noticed the emerging Blue Wizard idea.

But then, Mel would need to have some hand in this frustration, at least to fulfill the silly elfish prophecy. Also, that one idea that I had for mayhaps using in that The Stumbling Of Man Upon The Uttermost West Story doesn't apply. I forgot. It involves what looked like it'd be the end of the world but is averted via a plot twist. Whoops. I'll sleep on more, then.

Also, I liked your take on Tilion. My thought was that he becomes infected with that Maeglin-like frustration and despair, becoming impatient and, well……. you know the story.

Cool, I’m going to chew for a while and digest what you have sent me so far. I like this:

"Ah, mayhaps the sun and moon are a serious threat to Mel, since he's lost lots of creepy as well as spiritual energy. They are gotten out of the way first. The guards of the Doors Of Night utter, "Wha? Who turned out our favorite lights?" While they are momentarily confused, the least famous of the Balrogs, the pathetic little guy who never could get the hang of fire but is decent at sneaking his mostly smoky body around guts them from behind and throws the capitalized Doors open."

That was kind of similar to the direction I was going with the intro. Keep it coming….good stuff.

Which reminds me of Makar and Measse, the deleted Valar duo. It was said that those two hung out with Mel for a bit, in the beginning, but they agreed that he wasn't so great, and they mostly just hung out in Valinor and practiced their many martial arts, always getting easily trounced by Tulkas. Mayhaps Mel's influence wasn't entirely purged. Mayhaps a bit of sympathy grew. They'd make some good traitors. They've trained with a bunch of elves in Valinor. A bunch of dramatic, "But, Master! Why?" "New world order, elf. Outta my way."

They and probably other more popularly seen as evil sorts then carry out a clandestine takeover. Tulkas first. I hate that guy.

Hm. And then, there's also those humans hanging out in that cave on the outskirts of Valinor. I was thinking about a Superman-esque character that gets shoved out of the caves on one of those maybe airplane-like things that the Numenoreans might have had, but maybe the idea is too silly. Anyways, it merely seems as if they'd get out during the fight between Mel and everyone ganging up on him. Whose side would they assist, though? Yay for Ar-Pharazon's comeback!

There was also the idea that I was thinking about including in my The Stumbling Of Man Upon The Uttermost West story, but that *eyes dart about suspiciously* shouldn't be written here. I'll think up more stuff. And mayhaps specifics. You mentioned starting with how a disagreement could be contrived between the sun and moon. Okay. But it's just to make sure that neither is lighting up the sky when Mel gets out, since, I guess, both are some sort of major threat to him. Why are they some major threat? The Valar types seem scarier, to myself. Of course, the sight of Arien, at the least, never pleased him. Mayhaps it is merely because Feanor is finally going to open the Silmarils up when Mel comes back, and the Valar types would require the sun and moon as components to bring the capitalized Trees back? But then, that's no huge threat to him, either. It's just something that he wouldn't consider to be especially cool.

I don't know which idea the chrysophalax person was mentioning of mine in that one thread. Many are crafted. There was the idea that Mel remains awesome and independent and rebellious and makes plenty of disciples out in the Void, one of which is like Manwe in that he is able to creepily as well as psychically communicate with people not in the Void. He chooses some frustrated scholar with a large bank account to convince that he is Eru, and Eru would enjoy some more entertainment. Or capitalized Music Happening As It Should, And Don't Ask Questions. This guy gets all zealous and charismatic about bringing Mel back, so that heroes worthy of his favorite epics can show up again.

What are the elfish wishes towards what'll happen at the end of the world? You mentioned the sun and moon getting trapped, with poor Arien slapping Tilion and his clueless advances away until they're dug out or the world collapses. Turin elfbane or Eonwe gets the honor of striking the final blow against everyone's favorite scapegoat, who's been shown the error of his ways and now enjoys only Eru's best albums. Fortunately, there's a die-hard Mel fan who totally points the guy out to the would-be heroes and dashes off to make himself some human semblance, that he might sneakily check out what's in store for them.

But towards the end of the world. First of all, you gots to remember that the only source of information we have on what'll happen is a bunch of elfish legends, so they might not all be correct. I'd prefer something from left field, but most would enjoy seeing stuff come true. Like poor Mel being gutted by some pathetic human.

*checks a map* Hm. Yes. Rochester is a bit farther than I thought from where you are at. oh well. I'll just stay up here and save my money, then.
