The Tolkien 'odd man out' game

Gandalf seems too obvious....Celeborn, because it is the only one that is also a tree/has a tree named after him?

Hey Ho! Join me for another look at the name of Tom Bombadil

Yeah, thats right, another thread about Tom Bombadillo. I just finished the 2 chapters which include good ol' Tom, and the quote about who Tom is drew my interest more than it has in the past. His name, that's the only answer. Lets forget about everything else in that little quotation...

Glorfindel number 1 and number 2, are they the same?

Nice to see you again Thorin. I vaguely remember you posting years back, and we shall enjoy seeing your posts again whenever we can. Ok I'll let the thread get back on topic now...

Glorfindel number 1 and number 2, are they the same?

Yes, and I'm not saying I agree with my own theory, its just something I threw out there for discussion a few years ago, so I brought it up again in this thread. The spirits of elves do indeed go to the Halls of Mandos, and it would make more sense to just have him be resurrected by the Valar...

Glorfindel number 1 and number 2, are they the same?

ahhh Glorfindel, my old user name and favorite elf, sigh.... Anyway, its been so long now that I can't remember what my opinion was on the subject and what quotes I used in any arguments/threads, but I think I've always been of the opinion that they're both the same Glorfindel, just...

    Easterlings / Haradrim

Its wikipedia....people make errors and put false information in it all the time.

    Erestor

Certainly Tulkas would not have allowed Sauron to attack Valinor, but that was beside the point. Sauron didn't need the ring to conquer all of middle-earth; his army was already big enough and strong enough to do that. He did still want the Ring of course, but it wasn't necessary. It was...

    Erestor

I don't think he had any desire to take it for himself. I think that he did realize it was dangerous, but that it would be even more dangerous and foolish to attempt to bring it into the center of Mordor and destroy it without getting stopped, to the utter ruin of all. In hindsight, we all...

    Fangorn at Helm's Deep

Wow, there's no need to be so condescending about it. Both of us had simply said that we couldn't remember for sure what happened. As its been over a year since I last read LotR and I'm at college without my LotR books and have more important things to worry about right now, please forgive me...

    Fangorn at Helm's Deep

I don't remember it ever being mentioned either, but I'm sure it probably was, and I would venture a guess and say that they returned to Fangorn Forest.

    Battle at the Marshes

It was a battle during the first war between Sauron and Numenor/the Elves of Middle-earth.

Hmmm....is the figure on top riding on the dragon or what? I can't tell.....maybe I'll venture a guess in a day or 2 if no one gets it, but right now I'm too lazy to look stuff up, and in any case the only book I have here at school to work with is the Sil.
