I need some info on Eowyn!!!

Better yet, go into the index for people at the back of RotK and look up all references to Eowyn--you should get plenty of information. You can also check out this thread http://www.thetolkienforum.com/showthread.php?t=11275[/a for some discussions on Eowyn. You can find my very long and...

    What is your favourite character

Yup, Sam does = true hero- but I can't help it, Aragorn has always been my favorite member of the fellowship. Well, Strider has, anyway. He gets kind of annoying once he becomes king. Fortunately by then I have Faramir to oogle. :D

    who here does this?

I do this with all my books, unless it's the very first time I've read them. With LOTR in particular I (of course) go back and read over parts that concern Eowyn a good bit, just because I talk about the subject so much :D

    Reading Out Loud-- Songs

My father has never sung the songs, though he's been reading it out loud for thirteen years. I've picked up tunes for some songs from the radio dramas and animated movies that I've been known to sing, but not while reading the book.

Where have all the mothers gone?

There does seem to be an almost complete lack of sentimental attachment on their part- except for food, of course. But would dialogue about missing so-and-so that we were briefly introduced to in the beginning add anything to the book or take away from it? In most mythology people seem to do...

Where have all the mothers gone?

Elgee is right; literature in general has a long history of leaving out parents, if not always killing them off, especially in what's considered 'young adult' literature and most fantasy. It just doesn't seem quite right when your hero is setting out on a great and noble quest and his mother...
