Anglachel inspired another?

Has anyone noted the similarity of the cursed sword Anglachel (aka Iron-Flame, later renamed Durthang) to another particularly famous sword from literature? Both were apparently sentient, both had a blade of black metal and both killed not only the enemies of their wielder but also loved ones and both ultimately slew the wielder as well. Makes one wonder and suspect that Michael Moorcock knew his Middle-earth history.
