doh

Come on man, where do you think the Ultima modeller got his inspiration!!!!

People are forgetting just how much has been stolen from Tolkien...(or should that be, just how inspirational he was/is?)

Heehee, hilarious. Very drole. But Ultima Online has made the Balrog seem more like an oversized red bat. A balrog is a Maia, an evil spirit of fire, cloaked in the shadow of darkness. And his wings (uh-oh) are PRESUMABLY AND MOST LIKELY of this shadow-essense, rather than of flesh and blood.
And I thought the Balrog was sensational in the movie, terrifying.

Yeah, shadow-essence, nicely put. I thought the wings were very well done - sort of half smoke, half darkness, half balrog:)

I actually think the daemons and Balrons in Ultima Online resemble the devil in South Park more than a Balrog from LotR or anything.
