It is five days before the Battles of the Fords of Isen. The men of Rohan are mustering in their eoreds and war is to come to the Westfold. Currently, there are positions for Theodred, Eomer, Theoden and Gamling as well as Grima, son of Galmod, the Wormtongue. I, Sangahyando the great-grandson of Castamir the Usurper will take the place of Erkenbrand of Westfold.

Erkenbrand looked derisively down into the Dike of Helm's Deep. Men were working hard to clear away all of the flotsam from the hills and the mountains above. Suddenly, at the echo of a horn, Erkenbrand jumped to his steed and shot off down the Causeway towards the Fords with Theodred and Gamling.

A lone rider galloped across the plain and then hit the dirt with a cloud of dust as a single javelin from a Warg Rider whistled through the air and embedded itself in his back. With his last breath, the rider blew a single blast on his horn which under the full force of his dying breaths, shattered into pieces.

Erkenbrand noticed the fall of the rider and then saw the crowd of wargs tearing away at the supple flesh. Uttering a cry, Erkenbrand turned and returned to the Hornburg with his comrades. Uruks were coming and there was nothing he could do but muster the willing men.

Theoden's mind had been twisted by Wormtongue and Eomer had been cast from Edoras with nothing but an insult and his loyal household. Erkenbrand realised this and pieced it together. If the Fords were to be held, Theodred must ride to Edoras and gather the guard.
